The unprepossessing facade of this restaurant on Mausanne's main street hides an elegant little covered terrace at the rear of the house. Certainly very efficiently run by an group of smartly uniformed ladies.Kind a fascinating menu presentation; english translation is helpfully shown, and the components of the Plat du Jour are shown with their a la carte prices alongside. Consequently, a total no-brainer to go for the 55E option which also included a (perfectly acceptable) bottle of wine, a selection of cheese, and coffee to finish.Off to a good start with a plate of several slices of smoked ham off the bone. Top quality but not particularly delicate.Next it was daube of beef, amazingly acc...

A good meal from their 55 euro fixed price menu which included both cheese and a dessert, and a nice bottle of local wine from a vineyard down the road. Most people seemed to choose their small purple artichokes 'a la Barigoule' starter which was nicely presented. The ham off the bone flavoured with rosemary was also good and plentiful. Mains were a bit of a disappointment - the rack of lamb was tough and lacked flavour, the anchovy sauce overpowered the red mullet. Cheese was nicely kept (three choices) and desserts excellent - nougat ice-cream with lavender honey and glace fruits - yum. Rice pudding with orange and vanilla also very nice.Clearly popular for its food, this is a professional...
We wanted to eat at a spot devoted to traditional Provençal cooking. Ou Ravi Provençau met and exceeded our expectations. Plus the price fixe menu offered incredible value. We chose the artichoke dish and vegetable tart to start, followed by beef daube and scallops St. Jacques. After an amazing cheese course, dessert was the nougat glacé and coffee/chocolate biscuit (cake). Add a bottle of delicious local wine and coffee or tea, all for under 60 euros per person, and we felt we had won the lottery. We wish we had more time left in Provence so we could return. We can't speak highly enough of the meal and the very attentive staff who kindly put up with my inadequate French speaking skills. As...
There are many good choices in Maussane-les-Alpilles and the surrounding towns but I was eager to try a traditional artichoke preparation so that broke the tie. The restaurant features a sheltered garden courtyard and an indoor dining room and I enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine. The artichoke “barigoule” was exceptional with the small pieces of ham adding flavor to the broth (which went well with the crusty bread) and the artichoke was perfectly simmered. Main course was rabbit in mustard sauce with herbs and a delicious side of cheesy pasta (no I am not calling it macaroni and cheese since it has no similarity to the American version). I skipped dessert in favor of a nearby creperie,... Book a table now
My husband and I went to this restaurant while we were visiting Provence for 10 days in September. We liked it so much the first time that we went back a second time. I had the Daube both times and it was delicious. My husband had the rabbit which was very good .On our second visit my husband decided to try the lamb tripe. He was a little unsure as he hadn't eaten tripe since he was a child, but our waitress assured him if he didn't like it, she would bring him something else. There was no need as it was excellentWe ate in garden which was very pretty and pleasant. The staff was attentive and friendly and they spoke good English. We thought that 55€ for a four course meal that included a bot...
What a find!! Was taken there by the in-laws whilst we were visiting. It's very local food orientated as one would expect as well as very traditional. The food was delicious, I went for the anchovies and what a change from the salty fishes that are normally served. They were plump fillets with a roast pepper sauce. For the main I chose the rack of lamb (2 people must order this), it was quite tasty and nicely cooked. It also wasn't fatty which is good. It was served along side roast potatoes and roasted garlic and onions. As this restaurant isn't far from the in-laws, this will definitely be visited again!!
First course fine. Rabbit course tough, but tasty. Unfortunately, dessert so frozen hard that when I tried to put my fork it in, it basically jumped out of the plate and splashed orange purée all over my top. When the owner came to pick it up, I explained (truly we did not complain) about the dessert temperature and its outcome. Orange purée all over my shirt. But the owner’s response? The owner basically threw us out of the restaurant. She said “You can leave. Go back to your hotel.”
a nice place to be, offer nice traditional dishes, good prepared,we went in several times, but we get also some bad experiences, that prices on the bill, are different from what is indicated on the menu card, and that is very disapointing to experience such things, if you indicate prices on the menu card, you can't charge other prices, if you have a michilin star, this isn't not done. Pieds et Packets, Artichaud Barigoule, soupe au Pistou, Crespiou, etc. These are dishes that have left other restaurants but are still here. If you are hungry for the real thing this is the place. Pleasant sitting in the courtyard or indoors.
