I really enjoyed this place! A friend and I wanted to grab dinner on a Sunday evening and we were really craving pasta. I looked this place up on Yelp and it had pretty good reviews so we thought to give it a try. On first glance I realized this wasn't your average usual restaurant where you're order is being taken by someone coming up to your table. You actually have to get up from your seat and place your order that way. But they of course then being your food to you. It's a smaller restaurant with maybe no more than 8 or so tables but it's quaint. You grab your own water and can also order beers or wines to be brought to your table. The Gamberetto usually comes with mushrooms but I asked...

I have been here twice, once for chicken parm (about 15 bucks and more recently I have gone for cheese ravioli. I have concluded that the food is really freaking tasty. The portions aren?t massive for the price but, for Berkeley, it is reasonable. The food here is so delicious? I think I?m lactose intolerant but I still eat here because it?s so dang tasty? Also, there is ahappy hour special for four types of pasta. The info is listed on their website. Somebody please correct me if I?m wrong, but Idon?t think this information is reflected on their Snackpass menu. If this is the case, please do update it! I do like to orderin advance. :
I've found my new favorite restaurant! I've only visited twice, but once I discovered that the chef from Pasta Pomodoro is here, I knew this place would always have a special spot in my heart. There are certain dishes from this chef that I want to keep to myself to ensure they’ll be available when I return to order. He is a master at creating delicious Italian pasta dishes, and I’ve been a fan of his for years—he's always been my go-to chef. I can't wait to try everything on the menu!
We were in search of an open restaurant and decided on Pasta Bene. Fortunately, it was within walking distance, as street parking can be tricky. The staff were friendly, and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere has a casual café vibe without much focus on ambiance. The food was decent, but it doesn't measure up to other Italian restaurants I've visited. My chicken piccata was mediocre, though the price was fair. Overall, I'm not inclined to go back. I actually like this pasta place quite a bit. The portion is filling and you can honestly take it back home for a round two, the lasagna I had was also quite tasty and delicious. The penne Bolognese my gf had was also quite good. Overall, if you arelooking for a first date spot/ small group pasta hangout spot, this place is the way to go. Employees are nice, good atmosphereand vibes, and an easy menu to choose for my indecisive friends haha. Rating: 8/10
I don't typically hop straight on to leave reviews, but the staff here was so genuinely nice and kind that I wanted to come on and say that if you're in Berkeley and want Italian food that tastes like your Italian grandma's recipe, go here. Plus, the service is fast (like you'll be eating within 10 minutes of ordering) and the dinner for two is just $33.00.
The fettuccine alfredo gave me food poisoning. I'd strongly advise people to avoid this place. Food that doesn't taste good is one thing (this actually tasted alright), but this food might make you really sick. If anyone from Pasta Bene reads this, youneed to start taking your food safety more seriously.
I absolutely loved the Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and broccoli at Pasta Bene, and the tortellini was delightful as well. The staff is incredibly friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are quite generous. I highly recommend checking out their menu! Food: 5/5 Book a table now
If you need to modify your order, don't come here. I am allergic to black pepper, and ordered the salmon plain with no seasoning. It came out covered in black pepper. I sent it back and they scraped the crust off and gave it back to me. I am insulted.
The dishes we ordered were decent, but lacked flavor. The ingredients were fresh and the service was excellent. Overall rating for the food: 3 out of 5.
