I had heard about this little find and finally managed to experience the unique homely happy welcoming cafe once you step in the door! Rosa is a delight and it is like walking into someone's home for a visit. Now to mention the coffee which I have to say is one of the best I have had here in Hobart. The food on all levels is more than delicious! I had the Stracciatella Italian chicken soup yummy! Then my friend and I had the citrus tart simply delicious on all levels! This quirky, retro-style cafe was right at the end of the street where we were staying, so we had to check it out and what a little gem it is! The owner is super friendly, the service efficient and the coffee is great. One of us had the pancakes which arrived looking like something from Masterchef with a charred banana and a swirl of toffee - and it tasted just as good as it looked. It appears to have a really strong local clientele too, which is always a good sign. I wish I had a cafe like this near my street!
Stopped off for a hot drink with a friend. Always happy to visit this quirky cafe that's full of heart n atmosphere and fabulous food and warm wonderful service.As it was a short visit we had a latte and a hot chocolate and a gluten free take on a bounty bar and a choc chip cookie-yum!My inner child was full of glee when the hot choc arrived. It was great!
We had no idea of what fun we had missed out on by not dining at Patanella before. Had a delightful omelette, my husband had gnocchi and we had desserts. Rosa is very friendly and full of fun and the cafe is so fascinating with so many knick knacks. Most definitely worth a visit and we will be going back for sure.

It's impossible not to smile when you walk into Patanella! The colourful decor, the music (always upbeat), Rose's warm welcome along with the delicious (and reasonably priced) food and drink make it a great place to catch up with a friends. The gnocchi dish is a favourite!
Patanella is a small cafe in North Hobart. Quirky and fun and a range of comfy seating options. The menu is varied and interesting and attracts locals and 'walking to work' drop ins. Coffee is good, newspapers available, what more could you want?
The food here is very true to its origins. Beautiful, fresh homemade pasta, sauces ,soup and of course the Tiramisu. Mama Rosa is hilarious and provided many laughs and the pasta master class was brilliant.
I had the most melt in your mouth, 'fluffy little pillows' gnocchi I have ever had. Absolutely beautiful with a creamy pesto sauce. Would 100% recommend to everyone.

Patanella has an excellent variety of mains and desserts, with new items on the menu every time I visit. I always walk out of Patanella with a smile on my face :-)
Second visit did not disappoint. Soo good. Tried the gnocchi and oh so good. Melted in mouth experience.
