We came from Victoria on a Wednesday afternoon and were quickly advised the kitchen was closed so no food available which was fine as we were only there for the Freakshakes. It took a small wait until a table became available, again this was fine. We did have to get Staff attention to order and by then the place had quietened down and plenty of staff were available. The Staff member who took our order was polite and helpful and the shakes came fairly quickly and were delicious as expected. I'd return again for the shakes however the experience was dampened somewhat by witnessing one male staff member speak very rudely to a customer. Been to Patissez a few times and the staff are usually quite hospitable except for the man who appears to be the manager. Every time any of my friends or I have gone to the café, we are interrupted from being served by the lunatic throwing utensils around the kitchen and yelling at, insulting & intimidating his staff members... Almost feel sorry for them... He has a horrible attitude which is never good for a business. On top of that, would NOT recommend the 'chicken' avo & brie toastie which not only has a hefty price tag of $10 for a toasted sandwich (wtf?) but the chicken tastes like tuna due to it, I am assuming, being canned chicken. For $10, I'd expect quality ingredients on a toastie...
We sent this review to the owners of patissez but as they decided not to reply or acknowledge, I will post my review here. First the food was amazing! Absolutely 5 stars. But the male manager we came by was just terrible. We noticed him being rude to a female staff member as we came in the restaurant....and then later when we were paying, he loudly reprimanded the same waitress in front of us. I explained to him that his behaviour was rude and that his treatment of staff was uncalled for. He then became very aggressive. I really enjoyed the coffee and milkshake at this restaurant, but I was shocked when I received the bill for my meal. I ordered sourdough with avocado, which was not specifically priced on the menu, and was surprised to receive only one slice of bread and a tiny sliver of avocado. They charged $4 for the avocado and $5 for one slice of sourdough, in addition to a 10% Sunday surcharge. Compared to the other dishes we ordered, this seemed very overpriced. When we asked the manager about it, their response was that avocado is expensive and they need to pay their staff. I had corn and zucchini fritters. Surprisingly the kernels of corn were individually visible and crispy. It lacked salt, but the feta made up for it. When I got to the salsa, the dish sang. I would order it again. I also had a mini nutcracker freak shake. It's more like a Sunday and is pretty to see. It was definitely very tasty. The others had "Lean and clean", "classic man" and "down ton NY" burgers and they enjoyed it. They also had a "Michael Jackson" and "Salted Caramel" shakes and they liked it. We would go back.
Brekkie was fantastic and the freakshakes get better every time I've visited. Amazing to see that they started a trend around the rest of Australia. Very popular, unless you book you often have to wait for a table, but the wait is worth it. Will gladly visit again.
I had a delicious breakfast at a reasonable price with generous portions. The zucchini fritters topped with poached eggs were particularly enjoyable. The service was friendly and there was not a long wait. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.
Brekkie and coffee was just delicious and then eyed off all the yummy donuts on offer. I was amazed by the shakes I saw coming out and it is on my list for the next trip. Great friendly service, with lots of smiles.
