My first review as a Yelp Elite, and its gonna be a 5 star one. I love Indian food, I grew up eating Indian food. There is not a time of day where I don't think eating Indian food is appropriate. However, coming from England I may of been a bit too used to having good Indian food pretty much anywhere. From living a stones throw away from Curry mile in Manchester to working a stones throw away from Brick Lane in London good curry has always been close. When I first moved to Frankfurt four years ago I made it my mission to find a good curry place. luckily my first 2 short term flats were just up the road from Mera Masala and my first long term flat a short walk. Lets start with customer servic...

This was another favorite restaurant stop on our truly decadent eating tour of Frankfurt 's North End neighborhood. Considering we were staying for over two weeks, we got to experience most every cuisine the adjoining streets had to offer. Mera Masala was a MUST TRY Indian joint with comfy seating (was not packed when we went), very attentive and friendly service, a mostly English menu as well, and honestly amazing prices. We opted to try: Chicken Tikka (since we get that at every Indian place we go to). It was meaty, flavorful, just spicy enough, and the saucy goodness was spot on. Biryani rice compilation with fruits, nuts, veggies, and flavored rice. This was to say Great may not be enoug...

One of my colleagues in town organized for a few of us to go here for dinner and I had a very nice evening. It would seem this place has been here for years and the inside looks simple and slightly dated. There is an outdoor seating area as well which was full due to it being a sunny day. The menu is extensive and I asked the owner for recommendations, which he was very glad to do. We ended up getting two starters and some mains to share. The tandoori platter was nice and tasty as was the onion bhaji. The dal makhani for main was fabulous as was the Lamb Kadahi which was the favourite dish of the day. The food was well spiced and flavourful with the heat adjusted to our taste. Service was go...

I went here about a month or so ago and was just straight up disappointed. I usually defend this place to non-lovers, but I just can't do it with the same excitement anymore. I had a lamb dish and the flavors were not even close to being on point. The lamb was tougher than I tend to like. The worst thing about this place isn't that the food wasn't great, but rather that I paid quite a bit of money for it. I have no issue paying for good and tasty food, but when it disappoints, it becomes a bit hard to stomach. Indian food in Frankfurt is so mediocre and while I sometimes find decent places, I am starting to lose hope. I am not sure if I will head back to Mera Masala any time soon, but I sure... I loooove Indian food! I was however a bit surprised by this one because I didn't recognize any of the main dish names aside from Tandoori. It was a pleasant surprise anyway because everything was good, even the papadum was so well seasoned and flavorful. One thing that's holding me back from giving it a 5 is the level of hotness. I wanted a really spicy one and the waiter even recommended that I change my initial order, but in came the lamb (which was tender and yummy) and it was not hot AT ALL. I'd still go back and maybe just ask them to adjust the heat next time.

Currently way too underrated with 3 and half stars in my opinion. Food has a unique taste compared to other Indian food places. Peas Massala, garlic nhan, and raita have always been a pleasure. Service and friendliness deserve an award.

Favourite Indian restaurant in Frankfurt! Authentic Indian food perfectly cooked with great attention to detail and the right spice levels. Very friendly and attentive service staff to top it off! Can't wait to visit again.
