I visited this restaurant yesterday after spotting it during my weekly walks with my kids. Unfortunately, the place had a rather unclean vibe, and I noticed some raw fish left on cutting boards outside the refrigerator. To be cautious, I ordered a California roll since I was hesitant about trying any raw fish. I mentioned to the woman there that I live nearby and that it was my first time visiting. Sadly, the roll had very little avocado—probably just a small piece. By the time I got home to eat it, the rice was warm but not fresh at all. I ultimately had to throw it away. I really wish I had taken a picture.
This restaurant is our favorite spot for poke. Our son, who plays sports, loves their signature poke bowl loaded with protein. He’s also a big fan of their sushi, which is made fresh to order. The lumpia potstickers are a delicious deep-fried treat. My personal favorite is the Teriyaki Combo plate, which comes with a generous portion of chicken, rice, salad, and potstickers. I entered an empty restaurant, and the only staff member present was snacking on chips or something similar. After I placed my order, she briefly rinsed her hands at the sink—without using any soap! Perhaps I should give an extra star for her effort? It almost felt like I should have taken on the role of a health inspector from Alameda.
The food was outstanding and incredibly fresh. My favorite dish was the Poke bowl; it was my first time trying it, and since I don’t eat raw fish, it was made with cooked shrimp and a variety of other ingredients. The flavors were perfectly balanced—neither bland nor overly salty. I highly recommend it!
