I cannot rate this place and the lovely staff enough! I booked the garden area for my partners 30th (very last min booking) and given the weather and covid restrictions, I was concerned that it could get cancelled or not really be as enjoyable as It would be normally. But, not only did the staff kindly put up additional cover outside to keep us dry, but they delivered the 20 of us the best service and helped me organise everything in advance, which really added to how enjoyable the day was. We came to Brighton for a couple of days. Our 12 year old son has Coeliac disease, which makes eating out quite challenging. So many places you contact say of course we can cater for gluten free, then you arrive are offered salad with no desserts available, this does not make for a happy family meal with an upset 12 year old. From the moment we booked Caroline could not have been more helpful, advising us and checking with the kitchen. My son had a delicious mackerel pate to start with amazing gluten free toast and then had the Wednesday speciality of sticky ribs, he was so happy and enjoyed every mouthful. Too full to try dessert. Since I wrote my original review we have been through the pandemic and Will and Caroline stepped up with doorstep deliveries. Last night we visited for dinner in the beer garden, and the food has lived up to the earlier promise. We had the fish and chips and the halloumi and chips and both were superb. Even the batter rates a positive mention, and the fish was some of the freshest and tastiest that I've ever had. Quiz nights' live music, everything a local should be.
I recently dined at a charming traditional pub under new ownership that serves the best Sunday roast I have had in ages. Everything was perfect. My wife and I enjoyed the beef, while my daughter opted for the slow roasted pork belly. We also had delicious sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets, all cooked to perfection. I prefer my beef to be pink, but even though it wasn't, it was still enjoyable.

There are a lot of places offering good sunday roasts around Brighton and Hove but this was one of the best I have had. Every element of the meal was brilliantly cooked, including the sides (pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese would recommend both, but decent portions so bring an appetite). The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout as well would definitely recommend this place!
This is a really cute pub ran by an enthusiastic young couple. It’s friendly, good choice of booze cozy.... what more can you ask for? Food... great, Sunday lunch is delicious seasoned (sadly lacking in many venues. Has outside seating a lovely “local” feel, dogs are welcome Covid rules are well adhered too. Definitely worth dropping by for some lovely atmosphere food.
Night out in Brighton and walked around the bars, found one which was closed then found this total gem of a pub, everyone was totally welcoming, great choice of beers and does food too (though didn’t try this), can totally recommend on the totally awesome hosts and the quality of the real ale on offer, will certainly visit again
What an amazing pub. Great food and choice of drinks and friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome and had a brilliant Sunday roast here. Would highly recommend.
