We really loved this restaurant. The complex flavours, layering of flavours and textures and top quality, fresh Tasmanian seafood. The modern Australian style channeling French and Japanese styles was spot on. What I also found pleasing was that our four year old daughter was with us and we ordered a kids fish and chips. The fish was fresh stripey trumpeter in beer batter. Usually kids meals are reserved for yesterday's fish and you are lucky to get a locally sourced fish even at the expensive restaurants. A friend and I visited for lunch the week before Christmas and were really surprised that we were the the only guests for the entire lunch period - maybe this was an early indication of what was to come??We had both been fairly regular attendees at Prossers and the fish had always been exceptionally good, unfortunately something appeared to have changed.We had oysters Kilpatrick to start and they were quite different as the sauce contained cream!!!!Our main courses were nicely cooked and seasoned but not up to the previous standard that we were accustomed to.Overall a touch disappointing.
The food was ok, the staff was friendly, oysters were especially delicious. I got the "mixed barbecue" and apart from being able to not be able to tell the fish what the food was good. The Missus received the Calamari and the Paw Paw Salad as the capital, Kalamari seemed a bit muddy, but still tasted good. There were no crabs or lobster, but that is currently due to the algae flower, they are pretty hard to get anywhere. Book a table now
This place was a disappointment. The food was okay, best dish we had was beef cheeks & for a seafood restaurant this was concerning. The night ended with us being given our bill & told "it might be time to go to a nightclub" - very condescending & rude to a group that was an older patronage, won't be back.
This place is located directly on the water with stunning views, the scallo was 1/2 shell for entre and lobster directly from the tank for the main tank. Seafood in Tassie is unsurpassed and this place does it so well. The service was attentive, attentive, but not in her face. Loved it.
Second time I have been here. Excellent fish restaurant with service and views to match. It's above some kind of boat shed at Sandy Bay, which is about a ten minute Uber ride from the centre of town. I'd say it mainly served locals rather than tourists
the setting reminded me of michel's in waikiki except we saw a rainbow in the snow showers would that be a snowbow? there was only one other couple Book a table now
Never had a bad experience hereThey serve the best beef cheeks in town and have a varied selection of entrees and mains.
