This meal was delicious as all the reviews promised. I'd been worried that my dietary restrictions would mean I'd have very few food choices, yet, I was delighted to find I could have 5 of the 7 savoury courses with little alteration. The waitress inexplicably refused to explain the menu saying it was 'too much for most people to take in'?? I asked her about each and every dish anyway as I needed to know what the main ingredients were. I was charmed and delighted by Templo and we chose to book onto the communal table which was a positive experience. I do think a change of plate every now and then would be nice. Four of us were positioned on a circular table with two other groups of diners separated by a large flower arrangement. We selected the chef's choice and were presented with a variety of beautifully prepared tasting plates. Quail, gnocchi with a tasty ragout, fish, ravioli, squash, leeks. Each nicely presented and very tasty. The dessert a tangy lemon tart. All of us enjoyed the meal, possibly the servings could be slightly larger.Service was excellent.The wine list is absurdly priced for what tasted like average wines and it lacks quality Tasmanian wines, we ended up having an Italian cask red wine (1 litre) for $55. Fantastic little restaurant about a 30 minute walk from Salamanca. The menu works perfectly and the staff are excellent. I liked the degustation menu, the chef prepared seasonal local ingredients simply and beautifully which complemented each other perfectly. Be sure to book as it is small, and I suspect very popular. There are 3 sections, some small tables by the window, a small bar where you sit up on stools and a communal table. All look good - we sat at a window table which was perfect for a couple but would have been just at happy anywhere in the restaurant.Very cool little restaurant, a nice relaxed feel, and good value too!
We visited Templo as a family group of 5. We chose lunch to enjoy a leisurely experience. It was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we've had. One of our party is dairy and meet free and they went out of their way to accommodate her. We took the chefs menu and placed ourselves in Chris's very capable hands. In a word the variety, quality and creativity of the food was just outstanding... given the frequent menu changes based on available produce it's impossible to proclaim one dish ... it was all excellent. Templo is a true gem, calm staff, wonderful food and a great atmosphere. My daughter and I really enjoyed the experience of eating at the communal table, meeting really interesting people and sharing stories. Templo reminds me of early Attica, though on an intimate scale. The food is thoughtful, delicate and full of surprises.
Intimate, cosy and inviting! A small but delicious menu and a lovely selection of wines. I love it when a restaurant just does a few dishes really,really well. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite of every plate we shared.Warm and friendly staff also make Templo a very pleasant dining experience.Highly recommended!
Loved it. Will return when next in Hobart and will send everyone I know in meantime. Menu is small. Loved the Gnoccoletti with lamb ragout and the Torta Di Santiago. Excellent service.

We chose Templo for lunch on a Sunday, after reading the reviews on trip advisor, so glad we did! Food was amazing and so was the service, really enjoyed ourselves.
