Provisional Restaurant at The Pendry Hotel

The restaurant week menu featured 3 courses. An opening course that was both great tasting and imaginative. My table shared a wonderful goat cheese and beat salad as well as a lemon ricada dish. Would recommend both dishes to others. The second and main course was less impressive. Wagyu beef was very tender. But the sweet notes from balsamic vinegar and the coffee rub just didn't wow me. It wasn't the best steak I have had by a long shot and it was, with an addition 35$ fee, at substantially larger price then that steak. The professionals - our server was great, the waiting personnel here always with everything you needed. I saw the open kitchen. The goat cheese salad and the scallops were delicious. I ordered the Chipotle Pasta with grilled chicken and honestly, it tasted like something I could do at home. There were noodles and a cream sauce and the chicken was almost a reflection. Why not the chicken at Toss? Garnish with basil? We ordered glazed carrots and they were forgotten so I can't comment. Next time, I want to try the other restaurant that's attached to the Pendry and give him another chance.

Provisional was nice but the food was just average good, but not amazing, and was therefore pretty overpriced. We had a good experience but I don't think I'd go back because it's not worth the cost.

Wonderful team and excellent customer service! This is a great venue for business lunches if you’re at the San Diego Convention Center or any reason, really.
