First impressions were positivd, with a warm decor and comfortable seating. However, the experience at Rialto was downhill from there. Service was prompt enough, but our appetizer of mussels in tomato sauce was a little disappointing with too much sauce. Entrees (penne arriabata and an...aubergine pizza) both disappointed. The arriabata came already sprinkled with cheese, which would better be left to the customer's choice. The sauce was too heavy on the pepper and too light on garlic. The pizza was scorched around the edges, and the eggplant slices had been smeared (after baking) with additional sauce. Additionally, the bottom of the crust was soggy. The Mr and I arrived in Gengenbach shattered from jet lag and the extreme heat the area was experiencing. After a hour nap we awoke refreshed and hungry. We went for a wander and in search of food. We happened upon Rialto Pizzeria. Despite...a menu in German (which we could not read) we had an excellent meal thanks to the patient help of Charlotte our server. We started with a carafe of house red wine and a very refreshing salad. After that we shared a salami and mushroom pizza and finished rage meal with a delicious tiramisu. a very authentic Italian meal with the terrace of the freskos. traditional pizza and pasta menu with salads and Italian desserts. we had a very generous Bruschetta star who was very tasty and followed by pizza that was thin and good with the right. quantity of quality topping were cooked. (pizza euro). the tiramisu was perfect. service was good and English was spoken. the restaurant seems to have two names, there is a sign with ristorante mamma mia and also rialto. three courses with a drink open sundays. highly recommended.
Good Italian serving good pasta. Antipasti fine but tiramisu was poor. Service was bad as my brother in law's main course only arrived after we had all finished. No allowance on bill but hey this is Germany where service ethic is poor in comparison to...North America or Ireland or UK.

pizzas were great. I had a fish soup to begin, that was excellent. wee at the half-carafe was good. we sat on the terrace, which left grapes hanging over head good ambiente. it was a little dark out there, but we don't mind.
It is just a Pizza place but a good one. Their Pizzas are BIG and tasty too, good place to stop and rest for a bit after walking cobblestone streets for a couple of hours. Their Winelist is excellent as ell.
