Driving into Wharton I felt a different sense of ambiance. Everything felt more laid back like a rural small town in the US. You don’t really get a lot of that in North Jersey. Any who, I was craving something to eat and happened to stumble upon this shop. It felt like a step back into history when I walked in. The owner was super friendly and explained to me how pasties came from the Cornish miners who immigrated here from England to mine. I initially only bought 2 but they were so good I went back to the store for 4 more since I live far. But, 1 is plenty for one person! Another thing to note is that the pastors are very shelf stable. I tried it for the first time today and ordered the beef and sausage. I wanted to try the chicken too, but they were all out. The beef was my favorite because of its texture; it was a bit salty, but it really brought out the bread’s aftertaste. The sausage was just okay for me—the flavor and texture seemed to blend together. The hot sauce was too overwhelming unless you only added a drop. However, adding sour cream was a great choice to mix with the potatoes.

If you have a fondness for traditional working class foods you need to stop in at Rocky's Pasties. 4 Generations have been making these incredible pasties, now sausage, chicken or beef options, large or small sizes. Straight from the oven or cooled and ready to be taken home and frozen for a later date. All fresh ingredients and a taste experience you'll make a regular occurrence.

I make the 75-mile drive (about 90 minutes) to this restaurant regularly just to pick up around 10 frozen pasties and whatever hot item they have ready to eat on my way back, along with a drink. My family absolutely loves this place, and I often try to introduce it to my friends. It's truly a hidden gem. Book a table now

Never had a pastie before so I tried it. Awesome! What's not to like, beef, onions, potatoes... Like a double sized empanada that's baked, not fries and with a buttery dough. A pastie and soda ran me $8.95 and I'm full.

WOW!!! Food was delicious, and it's obvious why they've been around for a century! So much care goes into making the products...high-quality ingredients and hand preparation. Met Tom and his niece, and they were so fun.

Been going here for about 35 years. They are on the 3rd generation of makers and we were very happy to see they were still open after we moved away. Still great Pasties
