Despite the initial experience, we decided to give the cafe another chance. We ordered two rounds of pancakes, one with syrup and the other with Nutella. However, the cook informed us they only had four pancakes left, indicating that they were likely bought in and reheated. I chose something else to eat so my daughter could have the pancakes. To our disappointment, the Nutella topping turned out to be chocolate mousse instead. The pancakes were dry, and she only managed to eat one. Overall, our £20 breakfast was a waste of money. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will not be recommending it to others.

Plus points were that the place is spacious so we got a good seat. One staff member at the counter was licking fingers to move through her order pad... A big no no for hygiene. If you have to do that get a wee dish of water. Also seen chewing and wiping across nose. I studied microbiology...bacteria and viruses do exist. Food was nicely presented and I believe the toasties were good. I had a baked potato. Small and some a little overcooked. And I found the egg mayo and the coleslaw had an unusual taste. So overall I didn't particularly enjoy the meal but we did have an enjoyable lunch and chat.
Popped in for coffee and cakes, wide choice of cakes all looked nice. We decided instead to have main meals. These were freshly presented and freshly cooked but overall dissapointing as quite small. I got about 8 pieces os scampie which was fine but only about 8 chips and a very small portion of peas £11.95. We also ordered steak pie, again very small potion . Had it been £8-9.00 we wouldnt have had the expectation we did. Our grandson had a childs portion of soup which was nice but served with a big slab of bread, no butter all in all presentation was lacking. Wont return for hot food
My mom, friend, and I had a wonderful lunch at the restaurant. We ordered chips and cheese with coleslaw, as well as mac and cheese. All of us also enjoyed a delicious cake. The meal was excellent, and we all had a great time. We will definitely be returning. I did feel sorry for the staff, as the line was out the door and there was only one poor girl working at the counter. She did a fantastic job, though, along with the person collecting dishes. Great work overall. Book a table now
We dropped in for lunch today, 15 minute wait to put our order in, and another 15 for the food to arrive. My daughter wanted an ice cream, another 20 minute wait! Food was good, chips were just warm. Good selection of cakes etc. I am no expert but I think someone making the coffees and dealing with folks just wanting coffee and a cake might make the service more efficient. I felt it was a bit expensive for a self service restaurant.
Have visited over a few years but today was atrocious, toasted cheese sandwich was so thin and over cooked my knife couldn't even cut through, and as for the coleslaw I always liked the home made, but today it was a cheap store made disgusting substitute, sorry won't be back, usually have the soup but please the lentil soup has ran it's course !!! £7. 50 really !!
I stopped in for lunch yesterday while waiting on my dog who was in with the vet. I ordered a baked potato with savory cheese and a bottle of snapple it came to an eyewatering £11.95. The baked potato was distinctly average and came with a small side salad. Not worth the price. This is a really shocking price for something that should cost easily half.
The store is great with welcoming employees, but the attitude of the staff and the quality of the cakes in the café are disappointing. The cakes were dense and the scone tasted stale, as if it had been sitting out for a day. It's unfortunate that the food doesn't live up to the charm of this wonderful shop. Book a table now
