We visited the cafe as part of our visit to the reserve which we usually enjoy. The cafe isn't fully open yet, only take away so tables are provided outside. It was a nice sunny day so that wasn't particularly a problem. However in my...view the one way system is Ill considered giving people the long walk around the building once they are loaded up with their hot drinks and snacks. It would seem more sensible to have the entry to the cafe through the shop or by the toilets and then have the shorter walk from side door out to the outdoors tables. I had a ham salad sandwich which was ok, however I noticed that the bread was a bit dry, I suspect not baked freshly that day. I suspect maybe they...

cold winter walks and sitting in skins looking for light otters and bitters bring a special kind of cold and hungry, which can only be satisfied with warm food and much of it. Despite the persistent Covid difficulties and the reduced menu, this beautiful little cafe still delivers. selection of cake, suppe, toasties, breakfast, cake and good selection of warm drinks to keep the cold in the bay. we were on site so we could visit several times in a week. this gave us the opportunity to work our way through the choice of delicious cakes. our favorite was steak and ale, although cheese and wobbles were also very tasty. the staff are friendly and welcoming and the caffe was immaculately clean. Have tried this cafe times just to check it’s not been an off day. It’s really not for me, coffee tea I’ve tried both) not nice, cake was stale. Yes I wanted to take it back but having a teenager with me...who looked mortified that I was going to complain I didn’t. To make it worse it wasn’t cheap. I’ve also had hot panini, that wasn’t good either. Can only think after so many hours getting cold wet bird watching most customers will settle for anything. To be honest I wanted to give a rating of one but didn’t because the staff are volunteers I believe?
Being RSPB members and living close by, we frequently drop into the reserve. After birdwatching we usually call-in at the cafe for either light lunch or afternoon tea. Also recommend ‘birdwatchers breakfast.’ Good quality drinks, cakes, sandwiches, soup etc. Friendly staff too. You needn’t be...a member to frequent the cafe. Highly recommended. Book a table now
no visit to RSPB Leighton Moss is complete without a visit to the Leighton Moss cafe. the food is exceptional (especially the lemon drizzle cake) as recommended on springwatch by Chris Packham. it is real value for money and the staff are more than willing...to go that extra mile to make sure that you enjoy the visit.
I was there a few days ago when I went to the reservation. a big caffe on the top floor, I was just a few minutes too late for breakfast, so lunch. my jacket kartoffel with vegan cheese and salat was beautiful and the bottle...lemonade was also. the personal was brilliant and very courteous and friendly.
after a long walk for a cold drink. we chose doses of limonade and brought them to the time, we were extremely overpriced for those I think! the limonade was nothing special and left a bitter taste in. my mouth, but that would have to do with the price.
Just popped into the shop to get a few things and found out cafe had reopened after closure due to pandemic restrictions. Enjoyed coffee and delicious date slice. Staff were excellent and attentive, highly recommended. Book a table now
