I ordered two meals over the phone. I had the Ruby Special Curry and was pleasantly surprised by the size and value. The dish had a good selection of vegetables and a variety of meat. The only downside were the chips, which I believe were frozen and not the usual Chinese style chip. Overall, the food was very tasty and good value for money. My wife had the Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls in batter, which were also good value. It would have been a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 if it weren't for the chips. We would recommend this restaurant, but note that they only accept cash.
At one time the Ruby was first choice for Chinese in the area. I've not been here for a few years and visited there today. All I can say is that it contained calories. A Chow Mein consisting mainly of greasy noodles and not a lot more, and a Peking Style Vegetables where the beige contents were swimming in what tasted like diluted tomato ketchup with a spoonful of sugar thrown in. I rarely have to write a damning review but I would honestly rather go hungry than eat food from this place. So sad considering what it used to be like.
Asked for Special Curry with fried rice and basically got a larger portion of chicken curry. Other takeaways offer special curries which consist of mixed meat and mushrooms but Ruby is 90% chicken, loads of onion and a few mushroom, very lucky to get pork, beef or duck in the special.
I had a delicious dish of beef and pineapple with rice at this restaurant. The food was well-cooked and the price was reasonable. The service was friendly. I enjoyed it so much that I returned the next night for their sweet and sour dish, which was also delightful.

Don't like to give bad reviews, but had one of the worst beef currys I have ever had . The beef was slimey and chewy and not edible , most of it went in the bin . That said the sevice was brilliant...but cash only ? Don't think I would use again
Have used Ruby for many years.Prior to lockdown we had a couple of meals that were disappointing. Tonight however it was delicious. Glad to see they are getting back on track.
They must have had a bad night as I was looking forward to my crispy chilli beef but was very disappointed indeed. It was by far the worst version I have ever had.
What has happened? Used to use Rubys all the time, but the last few times the food is disgusting! Save your money and go elsewhere.
