This evening( 5/16/2024), our church community gathered at Sahara Middle Eastern Cuisine for a group dinner, and the experience was exceptional. As we settled into the cozy ambiance, we started our culinary journey with an array of sides. The hummus, paired with pita breads, was creamy and rich in flavor, setting a high bar for what was to come. The tabbouleh was a refreshing medley of finely chopped parsley, tomatoes, and bulgur, dressed in zesty lemon juice and olive oil—a true testament to the freshness of the ingredients. I have been eating here for years and the food here is delicious!!. Their shawarma and bbq they make is the best I have tried in Los Angeles, and I have tried many places. I think what makes this place so great is the quality of food they give and the amount of food they give will fill you up. I can tell their quality is VERY good and very fresh. If you are in the Pasadena looking for shawarma or bbq to eat then I’m telling you right now this place is gonna be #1. Try their combination plate or their shawarma plate. The food at this restaurant is WAY BETTER THEN ZANKOU!! Make sure to try their tahini sauce as well. It is very good.
I've eaten at Sahara hundreds of times. I've since moved from Pasadena, but whenever I get back to town, I make a pilgrimage here. On one of those trips I discovered Sahara had been sold. I was crushed. This had been a favorite restaurant for decades. Losing the previous owners was like losing family. But the good news was the food actually improved! It was always fresh, healthy, and delicious here. Now? Even more so! It's not sexy. It's not romantic. It is a store front. Even so, Sahara is one of the best restaurants in Pasadena.
The food is so good, no excellent!! The service is so great. The restaurant is not fancy, but simple, clean, bright and pleasant. The hummus is so good. The combo skewers is so great. Greek salad is yummy. It's $12.99, but can feed 3-4 people easily if you're getting another entree. The ground meat kebab is yummy. The beef is so good! I forgot to take pictures because I was so excited to eat. I took a picture of my leftovers at home.

This is a great place to taste some traditional mediterranean food and catch a glimpse of Armenian people and culture. The food was great, the service was even better. I would be returning here very soon. I recommend this restaurant especially to my Indian American friends, please show some love and support for a friendly Armenian business and one of our good friends in the Central Asian neighborhood. The food is incredible! Every dish is tasty and there are a wide range of options at every price point. The service is great also. Everyone is nice and inviting. Highly recommend.
The food lacked freshness, and several items, including the baba ganoush and cabbage salad, were spoiled. It was a disappointing experience for $27.
If you like Mediterranean food near Pasadena…. This is the spot. Super friendly staff; large portions and the food is phenomenal.
