We decided to try out this restaurant because we were in search of a new Japanese dining spot and the reviews appeared decent. However, our experience turned out to be disappointing. The food lacked flavor, was served cold, and was overpriced. I ordered the scallop teriyaki, but the scallops were mushy, cold, and tasteless, as if they had been reheated in a microwave and covered with sauce. The dish came with a small portion of cold rice and noodles with minimal sauce. The presentation and taste of the meal were unappetizing, so I did not eat it. My child ordered a chicken lo mein, but she couldn't eat the chicken as it did not resemble or taste like chicken. The noodles were also cold, yet...
If you're in search of high-quality sushi, this is the place to be! I've been a regular here for years and have always left satisfied. The food is excellent, with fresh fish that stands out. Their selection of Maki rolls is impressive, offering plenty of choices. While the prices are reasonable, I have found some cheaper options for similar sushi nearby. The non-sushi menu items are also quite good, catering to a variety of tastes. Sakana boasts a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff. I can't wait for my next visit!
That's it! I've found my new favorite sushi spot. I used to go to Bada when I lived closer to Suffern, but after trying several sushi places in the Nanuet area, I can confidently say that Sakana is the most refined, fresh, and authentic of them all. This place truly understands what real sushi is about, and they also offer a great selection of wine and desserts. Every meal I've had here has been delicious—definitely check it out for yourself!
The fish was incredibly fresh, the waiter/host was extremely welcoming and provided excellent suggestions, and the restroom was spotless! The prices were typical for non-all-you-can-eat sushi. Our favorite dishes were the Bounty Hunter and Fantastic Rolls. One of them was accompanied by a delectable sauce that resembled a mixture of eel sauce and spicy mayo.

Fantastic restaurant. Food, service.. Everything is top quality! Came here for my birthday, but didn't mention it to them. Maybe they over heard us talking, or saw my birthdate on my license when ordering alcohol but towards the end they surprised us with deep fried ice-cream with a candle! Super thoughtful. They went above and beyond!
