5 stars for tastiness, but just 1 for value. I heard about Sammy’s several months ago from a nice gal at a cool winery. My partner and I kept hoping to try it out, but we managed to keep missing their 12 open hours each week. We finally decided to make a special trip from about an hour away. I had invited some friends to meet us there this past weekend, but both parties couldn’t make it and, in the end, I was so relieved. We recently dined at Sammy's during our vacation in mid-coast Maine and were blown away by the experience. Despite eating at fancier places like aragosta and primo, Sammy's ended up being our favorite meal. The menu was unique and had a surprisingly refreshing twist. The oysters were local and delicious, served simply with lemon. The haddock snacks were flavorful and supposedly famous, and the halibut in minestrone broth was an absolute delight. My partner enjoyed the perfectly crafted burger, and dessert - basque cheesecake with blueberries - was decadent. My husband said that Sammy’s Deluxe was a must stop on our trip from NC to Steuben, ME and it did not disappoint. He’d been once before while living in the area and said that it was one of the best meals he’d ever had. We went out of our way to stop through Rockland with our pup and enjoyed some fresh beautifully prepared boujee meets comfort food on the picnic tables outside. The concept is cool and clearly the food is made with heart. I loved everything I ate. As a chef, my husband can be judgy, but he said that the burger was one of the best he’d ever had. Next time we are in the area I plan to ditch the dog, so we can enjoy the cool ambiance inside.
Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had! We ordered the oysters (served on a bed of seaweed! , bread and butter, cheeseburgers, and the chocolate cake with sour cherries. The cheeseburger, I am honestly still thinking about today! The interior was so nostalgic reminded me of being in my Nana’s house, right down to the chairs and lighting fixtures. Absolute must try if you are in Rockland!

We unexpectedly discovered this restaurant and were extremely pleased with our experience. The meal was superb from beginning to end, and the service was exceptional. The use of clean, seasonal ingredients was impressive, especially when combined in dishes. The ambiance was original and had a warm, welcoming, cool, and classy vibe. We can't wait to return and try more items from the menu!
I had a delightful surprise dining at Sammy’s Deluxe in Maine. While most restaurants in the area have amazing flavors, Sammy’s Deluxe offers truly unique and delicious dishes. The mushroom pasta and halibut with dandelion exceeded my expectations and were incredibly tasty. I also highly recommend trying the smoked haddock and alewife dishes.
Excellent meal and is every time we visit. Hake with charred cabbage and sorrel soup (borscht)… no place else have dishes like Sammys… period. Cured mussels… brown bread and the list goes on. Always awesome music and great cocktails to boot. Love this dude’s style.
We had the most delicious dinner here on Saturday night. Cucumber soup, Skate Fish Stew. Husband had a fabulous rigatoni eggplant dish. Relaxed vibe. Sophisticated yet simple food.
