My family and I visited this restaurant for a birthday celebration on a Sunday evening. The new decor is amazing, but the table lamps seemed cheap and didn't provide enough light, making the restaurant quite dark. Our main waitress was great and the food we ordered was excellent. However, we had difficulty getting drinks throughout our meal and had to ask multiple different waiters before receiving any. Although we have always enjoyed San Carlos restaurants in the past and have been impressed by the food and staff, we felt that the staff in the Liverpool location were not as engaged with their jobs or customers. It seemed like they were just going through the motions.
The service was shocking, two steaks come out cooked completely wrong, told the waiter and they never acknowledged it. We had a table booked for 2.5h and was kicked out in 1.5h they gave us the desert menu and never come over to ask what we want, then asked us if we could leave the table in 10mins.. we said you have just give us the desert menu? They said you can eat them near the bar???? Absolutely disgusting service and would never return again. We spent £400 btw which is not cheap.
this is certainly one of the fashionable places to see in liverpool! the service is very good and attentive. my friends and I chose a lot of food from lobster spaghetti to calf etc. everything was well cooked and served. my only criticism is that the tables are very tightly packed so they have the feeling that they eat in a sea of people. I enjoyed the aperol splash and the wee were good.
visited san carlo Liverpool with my partner yesterday, to start we ordered a bottle of wine and a cocket, to order food we have to wait more than 30 minutes, while the server ignored us completely, beeing rude, arrogant and having really bad behaviour. I asked the bill a man with a back suit and any apologies. Very disappointed with the service, arrogant SERVER.

Booked well in advance arrived and was shown to table too close to the bar. We explained would rather be in the hub of the restaurant and with no hassle or problems was shown to another table. It is my only criticism of the restaurant now the tables are far too tightly packed next to each other. Service and food was fantastic great atmosphere as ever.
Really nice with great atmosphere. Fabulous menu with lots of choices. Disappointed with Antipasto sharing starter as it was pretty average and nothing better that we could do at home. Pasta dishes were amazing but pizza was pretty average.
service not as well as earlier visit the eating was as always nice, but the service was not as good as previous visits, which is why only 4 stars given. we will visit again as this could have been a free day.
The food was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. I will definitely return.

Great food and service, but too many tables to close together, so you can hear others conversations. The food presentation was lovely for all the starters.
