I went here tonight with my family here (my nephew lives in Sydney and other family). We went before a meal for Pre-drinks. The first thing we encountered were the pink fairy lights when we go down the outer corridor to get in. When we got there, there was the perfect crowd of people to give this point atmosphere, but not too many people. I also liked the attitude here, it had a very melbourne vide and after the bar tender I was not the only person who felt that. I ordered a mulled wine and a Pinot Gris, the mulled wine tasted good. I told myself I'd come back here one time when I was walking past and saw the pretty pink fairy lights adorning the alleyway entrance. Stuck to it and popped by while waiting for a friend to have dinner in Glebe.
Out the back it's a courtyard type setting, with quite a number of tables, and greenery around. They seem to be quite vegan friendly which is always something great to see! ???? A good cocktail list on offer too, but I asked if they had any mocktails, and the staff were happy to make them as they didn't have any on the menu. Strawberry & Lime and Passionfruit & Kiwi - both lovely. Quite well priced too.

Fittingly in Glebe, Sappho is an ultra quiet, low key oasis at the back of their well known bookstore. Cafe by day and winebar at night, most of the kitchen work is done in the sunshine so expect a very low maintenance menu in the evenings. Enter through the whimsical low lit light-way, or via the bookstore before they shut up shop for the night.
They host local artists and musicians as nightly entertainment, and offer mezze style options if you're peckish. Its reasonably priced and pretty simple food, with a couple of platter options and some add-on's like halloumi, arancini, chorizo etc... Service is speedy but flows with the place's atmosphere. There's limited fuss and a gentle energy....
Very enjoyable. Very simple, subtle & affordable meals that came out surprisingly quick. The environment is very comforting and the staff are very polite. First time being here & I'm impressed, I had the Lamb salad and it was on point. The coffee could have been abit better, temperature wasn't the best but was acceptable. This place seems aittle secluded and private I like the feel of it. Would come back again.

I did not trying out the food, it looks pretty simple, but it's such a nice room, but it's such a nice room to relax and read with a glass of wine. Nice in spring.

the service could be better, but it's okay. I just ordered a chai hot chocolate, so can't comment, but that chaos was decent.
The Seattleite me was feeling right at home here, getting cozy with books and coffee on their hip, urban, covered patio.
