I'm not sure why I keep going back to ShopRite of Carteret. I recently had to throw away another box of macaroni, and its sell-by date is 5/11/25. As soon as I put the pasta in boiling water, I saw a dozen tiny black bugs floating on top. I want to support local businesses, but this is becoming unacceptable. Complaining seems pointless, as the store manager, Jonathan, isn't much help. The quality of the produce is poor, and the butchers can't cut meat as I request; they seem more like stock clerks. Yes My anniversary I got cake from there I already paid for that. There was an associate she didn’t know how to write the last letters of anniversary she mix up. When I ask to see before put in box she broke the cake’s edges she start arguing and call manager. Then two manager came there I only know one name his name is john white beard guy and other one come with him and said straight away it look nice before ask me anything what happened. Then I said everything to them they offer me onother cake which was nice but didn’t write anything on top they said we don’t write anything. After I insisted that the store would accept my return and process a refund, the assistant manager reluctantly instructed the courteous cashier to take care of it before storming off to the back room. It became evident to me that John Bagnati does not have the right temperament for an assistant manager position and could use some customer service training. This incident may be a reflection of the fact that ShopRite is the only grocery store in Carteret, resulting in a lack of competition and, consequently, subpar service. Ironically, I usually shop at Wegmans out of town, and today’s experience served as a reminder of why I prefer shopping there.
I love this ShopRite location. I have been coming here for years. They are always fully staffed so you hardly have to wait I ljne. They always have what I’m looking for. Lately I have been using the Shop from Home service. I must say that it is well worth the fee to me for this service. When Brie shops my orders, she always picks the best of everything for me. She will contact me with substitutions and any questions. I actually request her to shop my orders! All in all, this ShopRite location is a family atmosphere comfortable, not to large location and I have been a customer for about 25 yrs. Thank you to all the employees and the Sitar family!

The store is pleasant, but its layout is somewhat confusing compared to other ShopRite locations. I've been unable to locate the regular Bob Evans home-style mashed potatoes in family size, which are available at other nearby ShopRite stores; the only option I can find is the All Natural variety, and they don’t taste nearly as good. Furthermore, it seems they consistently run out of the Bread and Basket (store brand) white bread. Another drawback is the absence of racks under the shopping carts for beverages like soda and water, making it difficult to arrange food and other items around the larger products in the cart.
Beware. If you try to check out they think you’re stealing. Can’t even put my items on the belt or scan them myself without being harassed by security or a worker, i make more then enough to pay for my items. Not shopping here again .
This store features a friendly and helpful staff, as well as skilled bakery artists. As someone who lives out of state from a ShopRite, it was a delightful experience to return to the grocery store I grew up with.
The ambiance is warm and inviting. Although some dishes on the menu come with a higher price tag, there are also many affordable options available. The cashiers are incredibly friendly as well.

Carteret is a small town, and having this store stocked with food and supplies that have sustained me for years is truly a blessing.
Visited twice and enjoyed shopping huge variety of stuff with attracting prices above all cashiers were very friendly.
