We came up here without a reservation, but it's a little outside the city center, with lots of outdoor seating, and we found a table. 4 of us had drinks and dinner, with lots of others, which slowed the service, but our server was relaxed and efficient. The pretzel was great, had a sweet mustard with it and then 2 white sausages, a light meal along with sharing a tomato salad that was really good. My spouse had their potato salad along with Leberkaese, as did our two friends. The Leberkase was the best he had eaten so far this trip, and the potato salad was also good, with some tartness to it. This off the beaten path spot is worth the slight hike to get there. The service was very fast and friendly, with the waiter offering us tips on places not to miss in Bamberg. We sampled a frothier version of the city's renowned smoke style beer and enjoyed traditional German food in the charming bier garden complete with a lovely view of the city below. I thoroughly enjoyed the boiled beef in horseradish sauce. My niece loved her wurst with sauerkraut, as well. Excellent choice.
We drove here so no idea how long it would take to walk to. Three are spaces for around 10 cars, with more parking on the street down the hill. It was literally empty when we went in the afternoon but started to fill up later. Very good beer, lovely beer garden with a small sand pit for the kids. Lovely views of the town, it must be great on a summer day. Well worth a visit. The inside looks very old and charming.
Wonderful view of the spires of Bamberg.. the food is reasonably priced and excellent. We were served by a lovely lady waitress who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere on a Friday night was bustling and friendly. The Spezial rauchbier served here is better kept than that served in the brewery itself!! All in all an enjoyable visit and worth the walk uphill!!

After a swim in the Regnitz we took the ferry and climbed up to this lovely biergarden with a gorgeous view over Bamberg and the hills. Cool delicious beer and friendly service. We nabbed a decent table but many had called ahead to reserve the tables with the best views.
This was just the kind of place we wanted - a good local beer garden with a fantastic view of the old town. Our food was good, and the smoke beer very interesting and worth the hike to get here.
very nice view of the city, nice beer garden, pretty good beer. (their smoked beer is milder than the smoked beers I've had in the U.S..)
It is a long walk from the city centre but very worth the effort. You have a great of Bamberg. Great place to have a beer in Bamberg !
