As Spice Rack has always been our favourite restaurant, we decided to visit on our anniversary. I even called ahead to ensure they knew it was our anniversary and to ask for a nice area to sit in. Upon arrival we were seated in a corner and asked to sit on one side of the table so other guests could dine on the table next to us. There was no acknowledgement of our anniversary and instead other couples were seated in the nice, quieter places where they could sit comfortably and talk openly. Disappointing. Have been coming here for many years and although lots of money spent on doing the place up which looks really nice, quality of food is right down. Used to be able to taste individual spices. Now most dishes seem similar. Sauces are all the same just different heat and different meats. Dry fries are still really good. Will be trying the other supposedly authentic restaurants in the area such as purple flame and the Abercorn, funky browns or the honeypot .
Jubilee dinner experience. The service was good, although it was a bit odd that all the staff were wearing masks except for one person. The food was very fresh and served hot. I particularly loved the lamb methi curry and the chili dish. It was relatively expensive for a local night out, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely return.
Best curry I’ve had in a long while. Lovely! The new decor is much better. Only negative is that the popadoms were disappointing.
