Personally, I don't see the hype. On my first visit, I didn't find that the food was that good. I figured I'd give it another try and we'll..... The service service was not that good. The staff is not that friendly, the nicest staff person was the bus boy, who was very nice. We ordered 3 pies.. 1st was a plain pie, served as the 1st pie, it cane very quickly and was very under cooked. The 2nd pie sausage and onion, that was good. It was crispy and had good taste. 3rd pie was just sausage, that too was crispy and not bad taste. I guess if you like thin crust pizza, it's the place for you. Don't expect to be greeted by a friendly Staff member.
Update: superb and blissful. Magic! I recommend eating in to have the fresh, hot- from- oven experience. The thin crust pizza is a staple of the area and is as good as the reputation that proceeds it states. It's simplicity, consistency and hard-to-pinpoint deliciousness are the stars of the shows. But if I had to say, it's the crust and sauce that make it special. The tavern itself is no-thrills and lowkey but fitting for its vibe and you don't really care once the the pizza hits your mouth. Good joint for dining-in or takeout: Family happy.
Legendary pizza spot. Super thin crust charred perfectly at the edges. Excellent flavor and sauce. Really 4.5 stars as the beer selection is commercial swill. Not a craft spot. Service a bit gruff but always quick. In a bit of a restaurant/bar desert so a good and much needed option for the area. Often crowded as it is in some tourist books and has been highly rated for its excellent pizza. Have been about a dozen times often with kids and we always leave satisfied. Good salads, too.
I know everyone raves about their pizza. If you like thin crust pizza this is the place. Personally I don't prefer thin crust but the pizza was very good. Toppings were tasty and service was great. Packed when we went Saturday night but didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a table. A Jersey tradition. Must try.

Been going there since I was a teen. The best pizza in NJ. Salads and wings are great too. Food is Always fresh and flavorful. It is a great place for families, friends, dates. Everybody?
What not to love about this place, the pizza is always spot on and the calamari is the best around
