Stracathro is a service area beside the road between Aberdeen and the central belt. There are few places trucks can stop, and I’ve stopped there in the past for a coffee, food and use of facilities. We stopped today as we thought it would be open as there were a few trucks parked up. In fact though it was middle of the afternoon on a weekday the cafe was shut, the parking area was like the surface of the moon, and there was only 1 toilet available in the nearby service station. This is really not good enough for a major service area on a major Scottish route. Are the Scot gov completely relying on private services to provide and when they go out of business or close that’s it folks?

Scampi and chips with beans, a soft drink and a small cake to take away, really enjoyed the scampi it was lovely and moist, wasn’t till later that night that my belly started churning, the next day I was fortunately off work as I wasn’t able to be parted from my toilet for most of the day, by 6pm I had sh*t myself out and headed off to bed , the rest of the evening was spent farting very carefully, thankfully the next morning I was over it. So unless you want to loose a lot of weight very quickly, I’d avoid the scampi

My boyfriend put in £50 worth of diesel and went into pay. he paid with 3 £20 notes and the bloke handed him the change and then as my boyfriend came out to the car, the bloke came running out claiming my boyfriend only gave him £40 and then proceeded to take a £20 note out my boyfriends hand. I am completely appalled by this behaviour!! definitely not worth a visit! worse place to her diesel and will not be returning at any point, and not recommending this place to anyone!

I called here for a break on my way back to England, I’m a long distance lorry driver . I went to the cafe for a swandwiche the staff were really pleasant, but my sandwich did not reach expectations, I asked for a Lorn sausage, it came out of a Bamarie or food warmer it was Luke warm an the meat was dry at £4:95 with a cuppa of tea , I did expect something better. Stopped off here as our first choice peggy scotts was jammed with cones and could not work out how to navigate. everything is outdated and run down. from the choices I picked soup and a cheese and onion toastie with a cake. It was passable beggars can't be choosers. would not rush back and would not recommend. was up and out as soon as finished eating.

Basic food served in large helpings. Generally tasty but far too much on the plate for me and so a fair bit goes into the bin. The tables were clean and the furnishings utilitarian. The general atmosphere is of a lorry drivers' stopover. Nothing wrong with that, just be prepared.

Worst tuna melt I've ever had. Indented warm bread does not a toastie make. As it was a takeaway, I didn't see the offending piece until I stopped to eat the thing down the road.
