I visited Stroma for the first time with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. There was music playing (Abba) when we entered but then it was cut for the rest of our visit. The waiter took our food and drinks order promptly, no complaints there. The food itself was fantastic, but we had empty drinks when the food came out and despite staff members standing at the coffee machine looking around at the fairly empty restaurant, noone offered us another round of drinks. In addition to this, when we finished our meal we weren't offered a dessert menu, and still weren't offered another drink. Whilst one could argue that we should have flagged a waiter down, there was 5 wait staff working and only 6 tab...
This was our second visit as even though the service we received the first time wasn’t great we put it down to being an off day so returned but again the service from the same person wasn’t great at all. Walked in had to wait at least 5 minutes before being spoken to and the place was empty, the attitude was horrible , the man just grumped and put us at a table, ordered a drink and then our food there was no pleasantries had to ask for another drink even though our glasses were empty when he was at the table , he’s got a habit of mumbling and walking off which still talking to him. Not great and there won’t be a third try unfortunately as everyone else lovely. Older small guy with grey hair...
We have been eating out in Montrose on our 2 visits in Aug 21 and Apr 23. This restaurant is opposite the Shell garage over the bridge and we called in after filling up with fuel. It is very smart inside and we booked for a Friday night. Good Friday as it was. We had our best meal of the week, nicely served with good quantities. We had English food but the restaurant was quite busy with locals who obviously like the range of curries on offer and they looked appetising. So when we next return, this will be on our 'go to ' list.
The food here was absolutely delicious! The £19.50 for two meals is more than worth it! The delicious food was accompanied by EVEN BETTER service. Me and my boyfriend had to rush to a movie and once the lady working front of house was aware she made sure everything came out quickly (which we appreciated so much) she was absolutely fantastic as were all others working here. Will 100% be back soon. Thank you guys!

I had to write a review for Stroma just to let everyone know just how good the food is and the choices between delicious Indian food and hearty British cuisine. On our most recent visit we chose the Indian menu and it was probably the best Indian food I have had for years. The service is excellent and the girls serving had the time to chat and have a laugh. I guarantee it won’t be long until we return.
Just read Sophey11 s review which I thought was very unfair. I’ve been to Stroma numerous times and never had poor service, food is always excellent served by attentive staff. I suppose everyone can have an off day but I’ve not had that experience in Stroma!
Unaware that it was Mother’s Day in UK so the restaurant was pretty much full. Anyway after a short wait the manage to get me a table. A busy night but waiters and kintchen managed very well, I had Indian food and it was excellent.
I have been disappointed by a lot of Indian restaurants recently. Eating here was great, the food was amazing and the prices low. I would definitely recommend visiting Stroma if in Montrose.

Great mix of dishes on the menu so no one feels left out when ordering, food is always tasty and well priced. Restaurant always nice and tidy with good service assured.
Can’t be better. It’s the best, you must experience the Indian food here very fresh and non spicy makes me go back to My childhood memories
