We ordered a takeaway for 10 people at 1730 on a Saturday evening for my Mums Birthday . The online ordering system said a 75 minute wait and we were pleasantly surprised when the food arrived after 45 minutes. Perhaps that should have been the warning sign. All the cartons were labelled so was easy to work out what was what . With a range of dishes from butter chicken to chicken Parthia to Prawn masala the general view was there was very little flavour to most of the dishes . Those that ordered something which was meant to have a kick were also left disappointed. I do not agree with the negative reviews. I have been a customer here for nearly twenty years and have NEVER had a bad experience. The food here is a form of art with subtle flavourings even if you were to order a vindaloo. If you are a connoisseur of this style of food, just try it. As I write this I am tucking into a tandoori chicken biriyani with extra chillies as requested. A beautiful smoky taste. Also a runny nose so it must be good.
Our local for 25 years and is always excellent. My wife has certain dietary requirements due to food intolerances which would typically preclude Indian food, however Surayer are always happy to cater for her needs; I also like to switch things around to add some extra spice to my dishes. The food is always fantastic. Generous portions meaning good value for money. A great menu. Quick delivery times. I cannot fault it. Superb.
Having moved back to Chelmsford after a 20 year gap I have found myself disappointed by most sit down Indian restaurants in Chelmsford. Using this takeaway for the first time last night and finding the food easily better than every Indian restaurant I’ve been to in town I’m very happy. The hatch to the kitchen is open so you can see the food being cooked, nice efficient young man taking the orders.

We had a family get together and ordered a takeaway for 10 people how disappointing, we all said the food was very mediocre and pretty bland. However, worse than that, we all went down with food poisoning within 2 days. Suraya's response was that they were very busy on Saturday night and mistakes happen!!!!! They offered us a 30% discount on our next order!!! No chance!!!
The WORST food I think I’ve ever had delivered! Nothing had any flavour at all… not even the garlic naan had even a hint of garlic! The main dishes had zero spice, when they were meant to be medium hot. We actually couldn’t eat the food, which I’ve never experienced in my life. Absolutely awful.
We have been regulars for many years now and the food no matter what you have is always full of flavors, prices are very fair the staff deliver drivers are second to none, for an Indian Takeaway you will not find better within a 50 mile radius. Quality in abundance
I’ve been using Suraya for a while and they are always consistently good food. I ordered two starters for myself which were quite large. The food is fresh and flavourful. Delivered very quickly.
