Re-reviewing this resturant after my most recent disturbing experience. I wanted Takoma Beverage Company to be a regular spot for me to visit as I enjoyed the food/atmosphere and the staff seemed nice. Unfortunately my recent experience wasn 't enjoyable and I wont be returning. I was given an order of the Patatas Bravas, and all seemed fine until I found a live bug crawling through the potatoes. It was right at the top of the dish too so I 'm not sure how anyone in the kitchen even missed seeing that. I ordered the short rib sandwich and butternut squash soup to go. The soup was creamy, thick and with a pleasant crunch from a few pumpkin seeds. A little creme fraiche would've made it 100. But without it was still very good. The sandwich and fries was abundant. The au jus was beefy and great for the dip. The sandwich was quite delicious. The service was surprisingly quick for the amount of people rolling through.
Delicious sunchokes! Attentive service. Extremely noisy/loud very difficult to hear without shouting. (Maybe take all those opened wine bottle corks, line the walls w them to absorb some of those noisy sound waves bouncing all over the room?? Kid friendliness: Lots of families with small children/toddlers there on Fri night.
A Great place for coffee, beverage with some nice food options. They have a good breakfast menu including a few pastries to choose from. The happy hour menu is very reasonable. I loved to avocado black bean toast either mesclun salad, cojito cheese and two poached eggs. The service is always good.

I paid $8 for a smoothie that turned out to be very small, obviously pre-made, and had been sitting out for a while. It was separated, not very cold, and had no flavor. I was very disappointed. Plus, for the price, it was absurdly small, and the tiny cup wasn't even filled to the top.
The best food was fried chicken related dishes. Italian sub was just ok. I wouldn't get it again.
Definitely recommend coming here. Lots of menu options in a nice atmosphere.
