Our table was not only dirty, with crumbs scattered all over it, but it also had only one chair. We had to take an extra chair from another table ourselves. It took nearly ten minutes just to place our drink order. Surprisingly, the owner decided to deliver our drinks himself, but his approach was rather brusque—he just dropped them on the table and asked if they were ours.

This place is nice to the eyes!! but let me start the count down...5 4 3 2 1.... I would stay clear from this place. 1st because the owner is a pompous unfriendly and arrogant individual. I could understand if everything was perfect and on point in this establishment . If there were 5 Star five star Michelin chefs cooking in this kitchen.... but there far from it. We ordered the stuff sole, it smelled and tasted like is was caught from the east river. Best burgers I’ve ever had in my 67 years on this planet! Every single time I visited, they were fantastic. I can’t even count how many people I recommended this place to during my time at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, just up the road in Yorktown Heights. It’s been quite a while since I left the area and moved back to California in 2003, but I still crave those burgers. That’s why I came back after 20 years to see if I needed to catch a flight for my Briars fix. I was picturing that delicious burger, piled high with sautéed onions, only to find out that they’ve closed for good. I’m heartbroken and my burger cravings remain unfulfilled. Rest in peace, Briars. May you rest in pickles!
Stopped here to have a snack. We were surprised to have delicious chocolate martinis's and a couple of appetizers. The zucchini croquettes and avocado slices were so yummy. This restaurant is a hidden gem. With the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week coming up in November 1st to 14th, do check this restaurant out. If I have time, I plan to go back and feast on their entrees. This off the beaten path restaurant is so homey. I can't wait until they turn on the fireplaces. Sometimes you want a local cozy place like this. We all agreed to return in the near future for a delicious meal. Don't miss this restaurant.

We visited during restaurant week. The food was average, but the dessert was really good. However, not all of the desserts that were mentioned at the beginning of the meal were available later on. There was a significant difference in cocktail prices depending on whether you ordered at the bar or at the table. The service was friendly, but overall, it left us feeling underwhelmed.

Absolutely outstanding prime rib! The fully cooked potato was baked to perfection! Briars is a hidden gem!
