Visited for lunch. The menu looked promising however unfortunately that promise was unfulfilled. I ordered Nachos for a shared starter and a Chicken ‘Sizzler’(otherwise known as Fajitas). Possibly two of the easiest dishes to prepare that have ever found their way onto a pub menu. Bad choice I’m not sure how it is possible to get nachos wrong but they managed it here. Perhaps it was the way that the chips, cheese AND the Salsa were thrown together and then nuked, I suspect in a microwave but possibly they did use the oven. Result soggy chips and a sloppy mess served without any Guacomole because they had run out but the kitchen did not tell the server so no apology. Next the Chicken Sizzler....
Sadly lacking... meat and broccoli good. Everything else very lacklustre. Lukewarm. Sloppy. No service or direction. Staff need training to meet and greet. Disappointed. Will not recommend. Having owned a restaurant we found the whole experience lacking. Lumpy potatoes unacceptable with appliances available to avoid this. Hard roasties. Not asked at all throughout if we were content. Pretty quiet when I turned up. Only stayed the night, but was comfortable, and the gaffer and other punters in their were spot on, chatty and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable, exactly what was needed. Only draw back was didn't do food. Not a problem, though, as plenty of eateries and takeaways close by. We waited an hour for our food to be served, after giving the waitress a nudge (they had clearly forgotten our order order). The food was disgusting and overpriced. Plates were swimming in water. Seasonal vegetables consisted of manky carrots and peas. Steak supposed to be medium to rare, was rare. Awful. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

Sunday carvery here was OK but nothing special. The meat selection was fine and well cooked, but the vegetables were bland. The service was pretty poor, and after waiting ages for our desserts, only some of them turned up. By the time the rest appeared, everyone else had finished! I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The mixed grill was great value for money, and the pint I had was well poured. The menu offers a good variety of options. There's plenty of parking available, but I'd recommend making a reservation in advance since it tends to get quite busy. The staff were friendly and attentive too.
