Been going here for years food always good and Roy the owner always fab. Unfortunately Sunday was absolutely unacceptable. Service was dreadful, had to ask 3 times if we could order our food after waiting 50 mind. Was then told when we had all chose what we wanted that there was no duck no steak and wings. No apology. Richard the manager avoiding our table attending to other tables and takeaway that had come in aft us. My meal was wrong. Food was cold after putting the rice on the plates then waiting 10 mins for the main to come out. Spoke to Roy who was not helpful or bothered. He sent Richard his manager over to speak to us. Turned up for our booking after ringing and checking wheelchair access we were told they were accessible and can take a wheelchair. We drove over 20 minutes to get there as we drove past it was apparent they had steps to access I went In to check and there was two steps to enter and a further three steps to access the restaurant. When I asked where the accessible access was I wax directed to a male staff member who said it’s not accessible. I told them we were not told that when we rang he said he was asked if we can bring a wheelchair. They then said they would help carry in not really acceptable practice and not very dignified for a disabled person. I left who in their right minds rings to...
I’ve always been happy with the food from Canton Chef, it’s standard Chinese fayre, but beware of the recent price increases. We picked up a takeaway this evening expecting it to be £33 (based on their last menu and it was £45, a 36% increase. Some items we ordered have gone up by over 65% (seaweed, was £4, now £6.60! . Four prawn wontons now cost nearly £8! I understand that these rises probably reflect costs incurred with energy bills etc, but there is no getting away from the fact everything is now really expensive, and sadly just not worth it. I fear they’re going to need a lot of luck surviving.
After waiting for an hour and a half, we called to check on our order and were told that it was cooking and on its way. The delivery finally arrived at 10:00 pm, much later than expected. The delivery guy seemed flustered and didn't inform us of the delay, but he did offer us a discounted rate. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing - bland and barely warm.
I would not recommend getting delivery from Canton Chef. Instead, try Red Dragon in Lockwood and pick it up yourself. It's much quicker and tastes a lot better.

Coral, our waitress, was absolutely fantastic! She was incredibly accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. However, the downside to our experience was Richard, the manager. Unfortunately, he showed no respect towards Coral and it made us feel uncomfortable to see the way he treated her. It seemed like he was bullying her.
We were really well looked after by the manager and the lovely waitresses on the occasion of our mums 85th birthday last night, delicious food, promptly served and a lovely sparkler surprise pudding and singing happy birthday to Mum to cap off the evening . Really nice place, thank you
This restaurant serves excellent Cantonese cuisine with cheerful, attentive, and efficient staff. It is definitely worth indulging in some 70's style Chinese dishes that are expertly cooked and delicious.
We had a great night, the food was excellent and the staff were brilliant and a great atmosphere, would highly recommend. So pleased we have found a great chinese restaurant. We will return soon.

Excellent takeaway. Perfect meal. Just the right amount of sauce, rice and balls. Very tasty. Wish I could home cook it like this.
