This picturesque place must be exactly how the typical English country pub is commonly perceived, with its thatched roof, oak beams and a cosy atmosphere at the bar and with a separate public bar, mainly for locals who come here just for a drink. Actually the word 'typical ' does very much relate to people 's perception as, in truth, there aren 't many pubs as pretty as this. They have a decent selection of ales, predominantly from the local Rebellion Brewery. The main menu is fairly standard pub food, but they also have a varying specials menu which is not huge but offers a more interesting selection of dishes. Prices aren 't cheap, but reflect the quality of the food. There is a very good...

Booked a table last minute on a Friday evening website looked good and the menu sounded great. Food was average at best don’t advertise a gourmet burger in a brioche bun then serve a slight upgrade on a McDonalds in a cheap white, sesame seed bun!! Everything was just meh, including the presentation. Kids menu was really poor, pasta was literally penne with tinned tomatoes stirred in (and it cost £6.50). Service was okay, they were all just young and very inexperienced, no one seemed to be overseeing things. Definitely would not go back here I can think of far better places for spend £100 on a meal for 3 adults and a 6 year old.

We had a delicious meal with visiting friends at The Clifden on Monday lunch time. We had not been before. They have started Meat Free Mondays alongside other promotions. We were the only people there, which was a real shame as the menu was amazing and the ambience comfortable. We chatted to the chef who was full of plans which sound very enticing. Meat free Monday is about offering tasty vegetarian/vegan dishes not normally on the menu there are still meat dishes too. We really recommend this pub. Great food, pleasant outdoor area, children's play area and good parking. (Beware the bump when entering the car park!

This restaurant experience was absolutely terrible from start to finish. Our group of six, including two children, were crammed around a small table between two other tables. The table was covered in a horrible fabric and the first course of mushrooms was served cold. The main course consisted of an overwhelming amount of Yorkshire pudding with a very fatty piece of pork. We couldn't bear to stay for dessert, fearing what might be served. To top it off, we found human hair in one of our drinks. We have to be honest, this was a truly disappointing dining experience. The restaurant has a charming ambiance and the staff provided excellent service with a friendly attitude. I always strive to give honest reviews. We decided to have Sunday lunch at this establishment, and the main courses were just average. Some of our group members ordered roast lamb, but they were disappointed to find only a small slice with a large portion of vegetables. Many noticed that the lamb had a significant amount of fat. The roast beef was okay, but once again, the portion sizes were lackluster. Overall, it was an okay Sunday lunch experience.

We were not disappointed when we drove up the lane to see this beautiful restaurant and B&B. Quintessential period building with fantastic friendly staff. The room we stayed in was delightful and the breakfast wonderful- a real treat. Have the say the steak evening meal was like no other- 100% recommend

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it, room was very comfortable and facilities were excellent. Breakfasts were very filling and Craig and his staff went above and beyond to help us. Will definitely recommend and looking forward to returning when next in the area

We enjoyed a fantastic Christmas lunch at the Clifden Arms. The atmosphere was lovely, the restaurant was nice, and the food was delicious. We chose the two-course menu and the main course servings were very generous. We were too full for dessert. The staff were friendly and attentive. Book a table now
