No, this was the kind of drama that would make a telenovela look like a casual tea party. I sauntered in, thinking I was about to have the night of my life – and with this face, why wouldn’t I? Knaresborough, The Crown. We were there. Early on a Friday morning we popped in for breakfast. As you do. It’s what Wetherspoons is for. Two traditional breakfasts and two coffees. Easy. Toast, bacon, sausage, baked beans, hash browns and an egg. Poached not fried, the egg, not the toast. Or the bacon. And the less said about poached sausage, the better. Breakfast arrived and we picked up our flimsy cutlery eagerly. Poached eggs in ‘Spoons are like a game of eggy Russian roulette. You have a one in six chance of it being uncooked to the point of being snotty and a similar chance of being so hard boiled you’ll need a steak knife to cut through it. Had to ask to get table cleaned. Food came and chips were luke warm. Put food back which came back with hot chips but everything else had gone cold! My bacon was burnt and cold, my poached egg was still partly uncooked inside. Asked where condiments were and was told beside coffee machine and waitress wandered off (never been before so had to wander around aimlessly trying to find this). Yes, you do get what you pay for. Cheap price, cheap food. Avoid unless desperate.
I ordered a drink on the app. 20+ minutes later the drink had not arrived. The bar and kitchen were not busy, 3 staff on. I had to ask one staff member where my drink was before it was brought to Me. No apologies were offered, in fact 'here ' as the drink arrived, was all that was offered. This is not acceptable staff behaviour on a not very busy time of night.

Go elsewhere if you want fine dining and 5* service, but it’s ideal for a quick drink while exploring beautiful Knaresborough. Like most weatherspoons they have taken over a historic central building and done a good job. We had no problem with service and the facilities were pristine . We did not eat there but the hot and cold drinks we ordered were excellent.
Possibly one of the worst Wetherspoons around, to say the staff are miserable, is an understatement. Although they have the usual menu and drinks, these are neither kept nor served well. Tables never seem to be cleaned and if you don't order on the app you will be stood at the bar a long time watching the staff make drinks for those who have.
The Crown Inn is a very popular place with visitors as was the case when I came for a spot of lunch. The bar staff are lovely and friendly. I ordered sausage and mash for food. There was a bit of a wait but that was understandable seeing as it was so busy. The food itself was great and I enjoyed it. I would certainly come back here again
Food was fine, all hot and fresh, enjoyed by all but the service was shocking as far too few staff. Sat with dirty plates in front of us till we left over 30 min after finishing meal, other tables too. Pub smelt unclean, floor really dirty, no glasses washed, no condiments filled, just lacked any service about it.

Arrived during school holidays busy lunch time... Only 1 on the bar 1 waitress 1 app orders Lots of tables with dirty plates. More staff needed. Food was the normal WS food. Beef burgers could be a lot better. Not the nicest WS which is a shame as Knaresborough is a lovely place.
