I would not recommend this hotel. It needs a face lift. Really the only thing that it has going for it is the location. I did also appreciate that there was an elevator, because they seem to be hard to come by in Scotland, and I had a 50lb suitcase. The history is cool, but it honestly felt like we were camping in the rooms. It doesn't have any modern day amenities. You cannot control your own room temperature. The rooms were boiling hot and humid (May). There was no bathroom fan. The carpets were dirty, the tub was literally falling apart due to moisture damage. The food may seem fancy, but some of it tasted like it came from the freezer. I will say the chickpea curry was good. We got the t...

I visited this restaurant with a group so we did not have the opportunity to choose our rooms. The room we stayed in was outdated and I had some concerns about cleanliness. The bathtub drain appeared to be in need of a thorough cleaning and one of the glasses had lipstick stains on the rim. Despite these issues, the beds were comfortable and the room had a cozy feel. However, even though we did not use the radiator, water was running through it loudly all night, making it difficult to sleep. The staff members were pleasant and the food served at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. Additionally, the restaurant is located in a convenient area.
We were recommended to stay at this hotel by the tour company for our hike on the West Highland Way. However, the actual experience did not match the expectations set by the website. The room was mediocre and the bathroom had a musty smell, with mold and cracked paint around the edges indicating a lack of cleanliness. There was constant noise coming from the pipes and the wifi was unreliable. The desk staff seemed indifferent. The restaurant was decent, but given the price, it would be more satisfying to explore other dining options on the high street. If possible, I would recommend staying at a different establishment.
A bit tired however very clean with good service. We were DBB the food was very reasonable and a good selection at breakfast. This is a bud tour hotel so try to avoid the times they have breakfast and we ate in the bistro which avoided the bus parties in the dining room. All in all a good stay. We travelled by train to Fort William and found the tunnel to the hotel most helpful. The prices in Fort William tend to be a bit pricey but this hotel proved value for money. Book a table now
During a heatwave, the hotel had no air conditioning and the windows in the rooms only opened a few inches. The rooms appeared outdated and small. The buffet breakfast had a good variety, but the evening meal was awful - the sweet and sour pork looked like leftover pork covered in a thick sauce that tasted like Uncle Ben's sauce. The reception staff were friendly and tried to address complaints. The hotel is conveniently located near shops and the Loch.
The hotel is old but comfortable. The staff were all good. When the hot water was broken we had no heating so they gave us a fan heater and a discount. The food was OK but not special as we had to eat in the bistro and it felt like a fast food restaurant. Had to wear face masks all the time except for eating and drinking. Good place for town and to go on Jacobian train.
We had a good stay, room was nice, spacious and warm. Beds comfortable. Bathroom was adequate water could have been hotter for baths, and shaver plug didn’t work. Staff were great. We ate at the Bistro night and that was OK. We had Room Service on our night, and that was excellent. We chose to have breakfast in town as we thought was too expensive.

"Liver and onions was creamy and tasty. This is a quiet small hotel restaurant and a very nice menu. The sticky toffee pudding was unfortunately store bought and just average but enjoy the main course."

"Very poor quality food. My two children couldn’t eat anything of the very limited offer on “curry only” night, sadly reminiscent of school dinners!"
