We went to this restaurant for a New Year's Eve meal, and after a mix-up with our table, we were finally seated. The set menu cost just under £60 and had various options for starters, mains, and desserts. Unfortunately, the crispy duck salad starter was disappointing as the duck was overcooked and difficult to chew. For mains, two of us ordered steak, one had salmon, and another had veal. My salmon was tough and seemed like it had been sitting under a warmer for too long. The steaks were also tough with a lot of gristle, prompting the restaurant to offer a £20 discount on our bill. We had a fantastic Boxing Day 3-course meal for £30.95 per person with our family of 6 adults and our 10-month-old granddaughter. The festive menu had plenty of options to choose from. The staff were polite, helpful, and attentive, always willing to accommodate our needs. The food was beautifully cooked and deliciously hot. My main course was the pork belly with crackling, bubble and squeak, carrots, Bramley apple, and pink lady jus. The buttered vegetables on the side, including mini sprouts, roasted carrots and parsnips, broccoli, and cabbage, were a perfect complement. We managed to squeeze in a dessert as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I made a reservation for 5pm at this restaurant. It took 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, and another 15 minutes for them to arrive – we had to remind the staff about the missing wine glasses. Eventually, our food order was taken (3 roasts, 2 kids meals). The food was lukewarm, lacking flavor, and one of the plates was missing Yorkshire pudding. Overall, the food was average at best. The prices were high for the quality of food offered, especially compared to other options in the area. Despite understanding that restaurants can get busy, we were extremely disappointed with our experience, especially considering it cost nearly £100.
After a previous negative experience, I decided to give this restaurant another try. While lunch service is usually good, our recent evening meal was disappointing. Despite using customer reward discounts, the meal was not worth it. As a result of this experience, my family and I have decided not to return for food. We found the food to be cold and the seabass dish, priced at £18.50, was one of the worst versions we've ever had. Surprisingly, the same dish was served to us twice. However, I do appreciate that when we expressed our dissatisfaction, the staff agreed to refund our money.

We have been coming to the Hesketh Arms as a group of 4 or 5 school friends usually every 2 weeks for lunch since May. Yesterday we sat by the real log fire in the lovely and pleasant dining room. The food every time has always been delicious, hot, well presented and the service is excellent and the the staff are always very friendly and efficient with a special mention to Lucy and Keith. We all love the Hesketh Arms it is our favourite place to go for our get togethers and lunch.
We were excited to have Sunday lunch at our nearby pub. Our previous experience was fantastic, but this time was not as good. The service was consistently good, but our meal was disappointing. The food was lukewarm, and the portion size was small. The quality of the potatoes was not worth the price we paid. We understand that costs are high right now, but it's important to provide value for money. We will give it another try in the hopes that this was just a one-time issue.
Roast beef dinner. Nothing like the picture. I got a slither of beef, one piece of broccoli, a spoon full of cabbage and 2 sprouts. Roast potatoes!! Assuming, going on appearance , I assume they were tinned potatoes that were roasted. I was taking family out more than embarrassed. Never again and I paid £92 for the privilege, just sorry I didn’t take a picture.
We took four friends for dinner on a Sunday evening for a special birthday celebration after a “prestigious” hotel let us down. Food and service was great and a great time was had by all. Keith who served us was very attentive.

We stopped here for a couple of drinks early Sat evening. The pub was very busy and we weren't able to be seated but it had a great atmosphere and they had spiced rum, which you can't get everywhere, so I was more than happy!
