Four family members were here to eat dinner, not sure what to expect, as one person had told us the food wasn't good. We started our meal with garlic pizza which was perfect, crust fresh, real garlic used. We followed with various choices: chicken parmigiana, chicken gnocchi, veal cotelletta, veal with wine and lemon (for me ) some served with ample salad and chips, mine with vegetables (plus salad and chips, because an error was made and I got both). It was early when I was the first to arrive and the chef and others were sitting laughing. They invited me to join in. The barmaid had the same friendly approach. I felt welcome. When my five friends arrived we moved into the dining room and were directed to an excellent table with room for staff and guests to move around it. Coming from an Italian family and spending a lot of time in Italy, I have to say this is the best Italian food I've tasted here! In terms of price and quality of food, it outnumbers every Italian joint in Hobart. The gnocchi was so fluffy and light and just melted in the mouth. Mum's risotto was to die for, it was cooked perfectly, and Dad's bolognese was great too. The only thing lacking on the night we went was the atmosphere. We enjoyed a delicious meal here, I had what would have to be some of the best gnocchi which were feathery light! this was served with a creamy sauce with a hint of garlic, pancetta and chicken pieces and spinach, parmesan had also been added to this dish, absolutely delicious!! My husband had seafood marinara with spaghetti which he thoroughly enjoyed ! Deserts Tiramisu and Sicilian cannoli both were superb, compliments to the chef!! Its a good idea to make a reservation as its a popular Trattoria, the service is very good and once your order is taken there is not a long wait for your meal. Waste of time, money and effort for us!!..booked for a special birthday celebrations (after reading good reviews here) - when we arrived there was a big function happening in the main dining area so we were side swept to a small, cold and noisy dinging room - they were short staffed; we waited over 30 mins before our order was taken : we then waited over 1hr 30 mins to have our meals served - the menu very limited, the food second rate (could have cooked better at home and I cant cook well) small portions (as if they were left overs) and over priced....Very disappointing.
The Italian Club has dinners on Thursday to Sunday nights. It is just off the strip in North Hobart. Full bar service is available. The food is very good with a REAL Italian flavours. The pasta was cooked just right. The prices were good, ranging from $8 for starters to between $15-25 for a main course or pizza. Well worth a visit.
We ate here on two occasions (Wednesday and Thursday), but were too late for Saturday night (wanted to try the veal). Food cooked fresh and the home-made gnocchi was excellent with a fabulous home-made sauce. Wine list not expensive and staff efficient and friendly.

I went a fair few months back now and ordered the same thing I did the first two times. It was alright but no where near as great as I remembered. Turns out they had changed chefs at that time. It was an average experience.
Food good. Staff helpful and friendly. We enjoyed drinks at the bar and staff called us to our table when our meals for ready.
