The Library was founded by Steven Kuinius and Gary Paterno, with significant design contributions from their close friend Pete Dowley. Opening its doors on February 18, 1993, it quickly became a landmark in Los Angeles and was even famously recreated as a set in the TV show Friends. The Library served as a popular spot for first meetings and dates, a place to reconnect with old friends, and a venue for enjoying both live and recorded music. It was a truly magical era, a time when everything seemed perfect, just before the internet transformed the way people socialized and gathered.
Atmosphere is nice, the bathroom situation isn’t great. They have a key but it leads to people having to wait either by the restroom or for the key which can be confusing. Patrons put there stuff down then get in line. When we finally got our tea/coffee is was difficult to find a spot. I suggest asking patrons to order first. My iced tea taste like perfume but that was okay too. Cute vibe though…
Been here several times and have always had great service. Plenty of seating for laptop work or chatting with friends. Plenty of great desserts to choose from. Recently got a section of pound cake, it was perfect. The coffee is amazing and they have different kinds of milk to choose from (2%, whole, almond, etc). Very helpful. Best thing is the hours. They close at 12a.m.!
Local coffee shop that's been popular for decades! Love getting Italian sofas here after walking the pup and hanging outside at one of the many tables. Baristas and staff are helpful and suggestive of drinks and local events are hosted regularly. Come by, drop in and get a taste of Long Beach!

The first thing that struck me about this place was the atmosphere. It has a wonderfully artsy and relaxed vibe. I really enjoyed my time there. The coffee was fantastic, and the pastries looked absolutely tempting. I would definitely return!

This is a lovely, cozy spot in a neighborhood setting. The owner, John, and the server, Enes, are both incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s definitely a fantastic place to visit and relax for a while.

Golden Turmeric Latte was earthy and smooth. Nice setups with the tables and chairs, very sustainable in my eyes.
