What we didn't realise is that you both had to have pizza or a burger to qualify. So we ended up paying full price for our dinner which wouldn't have hurt so much had the food been nice.I opted for the classic burger with black pudding and chips and my friend the Goats Cheese pizza. A very welcome addition to the bars on Easter Road. This venue replaced Utopia, which rarely opened, and presumably lost out to more traditional bars such as Middleton's and the Four in Hand The Mash Tun is part of a sweeping trend of bars rejuvenating the country, introducing flavour to the palette rather than a humdrum pint of lager. Instead there are beers available from across the globe, but there is more of a focus on the local brewers The food is of fantastic quality, and the two for one pizza deal is not to be sniffed at, especially as they are of high quality and much better than one from the usual go-to places for a pizza. Having now been in The Mash Tun, it’s criminal that we’ve not spent more time in here. Mr Edinburger had been in previously for a few beers (many beers with friends and when he got home was raving about how good the beer selection was and how friendly the staff were. So when the chance arose to meet some more friends we choose here mainly because of the good atmosphere and because we live at the bottom of the hill so could roll down home if we had one to many. a blossoming bar-cum-ery halfway to east road, the mash do offers decent real ales and a lot of weekday food deals to satisfy hungry mules. before living in place, we have dropped into a few times, as there are many sitting options and offer delicious options if we don't cook like.

Fantastic selection of craft bar! Not something you'd expect to find in Leith. We had burgers when we were there and they were delicious. Staff very friendly and happy to help you pick out a beer to suit your tastes!

steak night on Thursday was amazing. £20 for 2 filets and house bottle wein. large french, sufficient seasonal veg; whole experience far exceeded our expectations.
I love the Mash Tun! Always fantastic food, great selection of beer and the Service is great. The 2 for 1 pizzas Mon-Wed is probably the best deal in Edinburgh.
