I recently had lunch at Peahen St Albans and it was truly exceptional. The friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, combined with a diverse menu, made for a memorable dining experience. I chose the Grilled Seabass, which was beautifully presented with great attention to detail. The portion sizes were just right, allowing me to savor every bite without feeling too full. The beverage menu had a variety of options, and I enjoyed a Rivertown Pilsner from the Hertford brewery, recommended by David. I made a reservation for a party of 14 people and from the start, the restaurant staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Despite some of our group being delayed, the staff patiently waited and brought out food when requested. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that even the picky kids were happy with their food. The kitchen manager took our pre-order and made sure everything met our expectations. We even had two dogs with us, which was not a problem at all (they even had a dog menu for our spoiled pups). I was impressed by the patience and friendliness of the staff. The doughnut stack was a big hit with the fussy kids in our group.
No takeout, No where does it say the place is self serve. I don’t have data and they don’t offer free wifi to order online. had to get wifi from across the street. Absolutely no context or any signage that food and drinks are self service so we sat there looking like idiots not knowing how to order and wouldn’t even be able too if it weren’t for the free wifi across the street. Terrible service sat there looking confused for 20 minutes with not one person approaching us. yet helping all the tables around us. Food wasn’t terrible wasn’t worth the hassle at all.
We took our team of 100 people from work to the Peahen for a Christmas Party in the afternoon and it was wonderful!! A relaxed little pub that feels a lot like Christmas the food was lovely and the staff exceptional. We had a brilliant time and very much hope to be back in future. Thanks to Sophie and her staff for making us feel so welcomed and at home!!!

I went to this pub for the first time on 12/23/23 with the intention of having a few pints. I noticed they had AK mild, which was different from other brewers' dark mild beers. It was light in color and absolutely delicious. If you've never tried mild beer before, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Went here for a work Christmas party. Everything was very good, communication prior to the event was great and everyone had a lovely time. The food was great, service was excellent and I would highly recommend this place!
The food was appalling... The fish had a batter that was so hard, it could have broken a tooth! It was also so greasy unhealthy... The tea was cold and tasteless!
Best pub quiz in St Albans,, every Tuesday!! We also get a strawberry daiquiri every time which is from a slushie machine, unreal!
