... Philologically, Veneration derives from the Latin venerare , meaning to regard with reverence and respect. I first saw this beautiful word used on the grave-stone of a very dear friend whose occupation was 'Agricultural Contractor '. ... However, today we visited The Plough for a bite to eat, yet again, as promised, and its menu read: simple good food, but with great promise, just like the last time reported. And was this extra promise performed? You bet it was ... and with the lack of the Angus Council 's draconian parking restrictions in The Plough 's street, at least. At best ... was the service and the food in the very pleasant bar cooked by a hidden culinary gem of a chef and served...

three of us had a lovely high tea plus a round of drinks, lovely toast to start, then three plentiful mains freshly prepared followed by a big pot of tea and fresh cakes and scones, two hours later and we're still full, the Plough has free onstreet parking right on it's doorstep and has 1 step in and 1 step in the lounge so access is good to most people, staff were very attentive polite and courteous, all in all a lovely meal, third time my wife has visited the Plough in two weeks and three great meals, long may it continue, well done.

Myself and my son visited here for our tea. We were greeted by all staff on shift and the service we received you could not fault. We were made to feel welcome and all our needs were met with a friendly smiling face. The food was outstanding and you could taste it was freshly made to order. Cannot wait to visit again and sample other items on your menu along with the wide range of drinks. Thank you for a pleasant experience and keep up the good work from a very satisfied mother and son

This was recommended to me by a couple we know. We have visited more than once to check out different menu samples. It isn't fine dining, but, it is very high quality pub fare. I can only say good things about all the food we have had there, the portion sizes vary from satisfying to very large. Certainly worth the money, very good cooking standards, good menu variation. It gets my thumbs up. Book a table now

Premises are spotless, tastefully decorated, friendly service, menu extensive and good choice. Good selection of drinks available. Several offers available including fish on Friday, spinks of Arbroath so it will be good! Breakfast available too which looks good value for money. You will get something to your liking from the menu, we had curry full of flavour and very tasty. Recommended

Not exactly a bar that sells food, more a bistro style restaurant that has a bar. The landlord, Stuart? was very friendly welcoming. The steak pie looked marvellous but I went for the prawn salad which was five star. The homemade pudding of orange cake with a chocolate sauce was to die for....would have been worth the visit to Forfar just for that

Excellent service from Stuart and his family. Huge portions. I had the steak pie and it was loaded with very tender steak, veg and chips. Absolutely delicious. The curry was brilliant ant the burgers were awesome. Tho plough is going from strength to strength. We were all absolutely stuffed. Highly recommend. Well done.
