What a fantastic find! I can't believe I've missed this wonderful little Pub B&B so many times. Steve, the host, was fantastic and went above and beyond for us, and Lucy's cooking was amazing. I brought my dog Reuben along (and yes, he got treats). The two evening meals we had were excellent! And don't even get me started on the breakfast - it kept me full all day long. They had a great selection of beers, and I particularly enjoyed the Great Corby stout. The decor was pristine and looked freshly done, even though it had only been a couple of years since the last renovation. The shower was just as good as one in a fancy hotel! Lovely little pub only a couple of miles from Coniston lake. Me and my partner had been paddle boarding on the lake for the afternoon and wanted to grab some tea from somewhere afterwards. We just searched pubs near us and this one came up as the closest. It was a lovely little pub, very warm and welcoming atmosphere and the food was to die for. It was a lovely range of options on the menu, something suitable for everyone. The staff were so lovely and efficient. The portion sizes are huge, especially for the inexpensive prices!! Couldn’t recommend the Red Lion enough. Well worth a visit to end a nice day in the lakes!
Lucy and Steve provided us with a first class stay. Excellent communication from initial enquiry to leaving this morning. Our initial party of 3 grew to 6 a dog! They went the extra mile even letting us know that our dogs cuddly toy monkey was left behind! Clean comfortable rooms, super tasty food and we all enjoyed a very hearty full english vegatarian breakfast (thanks Lucy! Dog friendly with biscuits was a bonus. The beer garden looked lovely, it was a little too chilly to sit out this time we will be back again! Top class thank you for looking after us all so well.
We called in here for an evening meal just last Thursday. The traditional pub had a warm, welcoming feel and was well maintained and quite apparently well run. I enjoyed the Flat Cap bitter served here. The evening menu was reassuringly short not too many options. I went for the battered fish with chips and mushy peas. Very nice. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding with cream. . Equally good. I liked the fact that we did not have to endure an interminable wait before our orders arrived at the table. All in all a very pleasant dining experience..

My wife, I and our young black Labrador had a beautiful stay, everything was great from the value for money, the staff, the locals, the bar, the food, the room and the unbelievable scenery of the area. Importantly also how caring and understanding they were with our dog, genuine friendly owners. Thank you Steve and Lucy
The service was fast and friendly, and they were well-informed about gluten-free dietary needs. The menu offered a great selection of traditional pub fare. The Cumberland sausage in a Yorkshire pudding was both satisfying and delicious.
Had such a lovely stay at the Red Lion. The room was immaculate, with a super comfy bed and lovely window box. Superb breakfast, and we had a great dinner there as well. Lovely hosts. Dog approved- we will be back!
This pub serves good food and drinks. The beers were excellent and the fireplace was lit, creating a cozy atmosphere. The beef madras was very tender and delicious. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

We stayed here for 4 nights.Steve and Lucia were the perfect hosts.The pub has a great atmosphere from the locals.Food was good.Whole place was spotless.Would stay again plenty to do in the area.
