This is traditional, not the typical fare you?ll find at thechains or bigger venues. Most of the menu I had never heard of, but but absolutely everything was truly incredible. TheDonburi (sashimi) is the freshest, and highest quality you?ll find in the area?incredible Blue-fin and spot prawns! But thesuperstar dishes are the ones using their house broth. If anyone ever looks through my Yelp collection of places I want to try, guaranteed at least 50% is filled with Japanese restaurants/sushi/omakase. This place, unfortunately, was not on the list, but fortunately, it was so delicious and the seafood was so fresh that it didn't deserve to be in my Yelp collection (a purgatory for who knows how long) even their non seafood dishes were so good! The owners are so sweet and kind and Japanese, so you know the food is also super authentic give this place a try if you're ever in the area!!
The Rice is a hidden gem located in otherwise an unremarkable plaza in Mission Viejo. Great unique Japanese food, and great service. Their outdoor dining is a little awkward, because this is mostly meant to be a whole in the wall type restaurant. I had the tuna donburi which had amazingly thick pieces of fatty tuna. My fellow diners had the gyoza bento box, the jidori chicken udon, and we shared an order of edamame. Everything was authentic, tasty and great value.

This place has some delicious and fairly quick Japanese food. I got a curry and was not disappointed. There maybe could be a bit more chicken, but it filled me up. The vi BB e of this place was a bit strange. It's such a small place, I think it's be bettersuited to order at a counter rather than have table service. They've got some outdoor tables to enjoy the weather when it'snice.

Spectacular and authentic flavor, super fresh ingredients, great selection, and super sweet staff!! This is now my new favorite restaurant for any Japanese food!! So happy that all their curry is gluten free too!

The food is delicious, and the customer service is outstanding – what more could you ask for? Sometimes, you might experience a slight wait for a table or takeout, but given that it’s a small restaurant, that’s completely understandable. So far, I haven’t tried anything I didn’t enjoy!

Everything I've tried here has been top quality food with great flavor. The prices are very reasonable too. They are also very friendly.
Expensive food for a really bleak environment. We used to love coming here but the total for 3 people came out to nearly $80!
