We were sorting out some family business in Potton and had to stay overnight. We wanted to go for a meal but neither of us knew anything about pubs in Potton. We chose the Rising Sun and were very glad that we did. It can be a bit daunting going into a village pub for the first time but not here. We were greeted by the man behind the bar who turned out to be the Chef. He informed us that food started at 6pm, it was quarter to so we got drinks, set up a tab and sat down. The pub had a lot of tables but spread nicely. It was clean and the decor suited the building. The Chef gave us menu's, there was quite a lot of choice at reasonable prices. Just after 6 a very polite and presentable waitress...
Popped in for a family lunch with brother in law who had eaten here many time previously so gave good recommendations on what to eat. Friendly staff, good range of beers and some good options on the menu but we opted for Beef lasagne, home made Chicken curry and Gammon and chips between us based on recommendations. Advised after a few minutes the Lasagne was still in the oven were we prepared to wait or change option but as it was only 20 minutes wait we stuck to our choices. Good decision as all 3 dishes were well presented and delicious and good value for money. Well worth a visit to the Rising Sun if ever in the Potton area.
I have lived in the area for many years but had never visited this restaurant until now. My first experience was on a busy evening with many reserved tables. The pub quickly filled up within half an hour, catching them by surprise, as the friendly lady behind the bar mentioned. Despite the unexpected rush, the staff were pleasant, the service was excellent, and the food surpassed my expectations. I was impressed to find that the pub was not part of a chain. It is a great traditional English pub for locals. I will definitely be returning.
I recently visited the Rising Sun Pub and it is truly a unique spot for those seeking an authentic family-run pub experience. The variety of drinks and food options is exceptional. The staff are all extremely welcoming and work hard to ensure a pleasant dining experience. My group tried the Christmas set menu and I have to say it was probably the best Christmas meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Kudos to the chefs for their amazing food. I can't wait to visit again.

We made a last-minute reservation for a table for five and were warmly welcomed upon arrival. We enjoyed drinks in the bar before being seated, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The menu had a good variety and something for everyone. The food was delicious, freshly cooked, and served hot. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you.
Went here for a Sunday Lunch. 6 Adults and 6 Children. The staff were brilliant (despite the children wanting menu alternatives which was no trouble at all plus one of our party knocking a glass of cola over). The food delicious and excellent value for money. The pub was busy, which was no surprise as a lovely ambience for a family lunch. All in all, a lovely family lunch enjoyed by us all.
Five of our family visited this pub for a pre-Christmas Sunday lunch.We were not disappointed as we all had excellent meals from a good selection.The pub was full and the service staff coped well as did the kitchen.When I received the bill I was surprised at what good value it had been.Although I am not local to the area I would like to visit again.
Had Sunday roast. Both the lamb and beef which we all had was very rare and fatty. One of my friends had asked for the beef to be well done. Was told that's how it comes! Potatoes and veg poor quality. We were all very disappointed and will not be returning.

10 of us went for a family Christmas meal, the food was really good, best vegetarian roast had in a long time, turkey and beef roast dinner delicious! Waitresses were very friendly and efficient! Will definitely be back !!
