Booked for 8 people on Mother's day arriving at 3.oclock, 6 of us had the 3 course set menu...after waiting an age for our starters these were just about passable, before our main course arrived people on the next table were complaining they had waited over 2 hours for theirs which was only luke warm, they eventually walked out after refusing the rest of their meals, this did not bode well for us, when our mains eventually turned up it all looked and tasted horrible, vegetables were not fresh, meat was tough, and a cauliflower cheese we had ordered did not arrive, we were though so hungry by this time we had to eat some of it but I have to say this was the worst Sunday roast I have ever had...
What a terrible shame, used to be such a lovely friendly local pub, it has really gone downhill. Absolutely awful landlady, so unwelcoming and very hostile. Overall staff very unfriendly. I live local and have used this pub many times but not recently because of covid and working hours,what on earth has happened to it? The bar staff are miserable, rude , and clearly don't want to be there ,the landlady is obnoxious and obviously this is mirrored in her staff. I ordered a G&T and got sodawater when I asked for the drink I ordered I was virtually called a liar,a group of us sat in the bar area and were served desserts clearly not ours just dumped on our table when the waitress was told she just scooped them away without an apology or a smile terrible. I went to this pub for lunch on Friday with my wife to meet a friend who had recommended it as a meeting spot. We were impressed from the start, as we were greeted by two friendly and talkative barmaids. The pub had a great selection of beers and gins, with the barmaids offering helpful recommendations. There were plenty of tables to choose from in both the bar area and quieter sections. We enjoyed watching BBC news and Sky Sports on the many TVs. The food was tasty, of good quality, and reasonably priced. The curry was especially delicious. The toilets were clean and well-maintained. I was surprised to see that there were some 1-star reviews, as our experience was very positive.

I ate here last night with people from work all was ok till dessert came out which was a crumble thing that was stodgy and dry.. I asked could I change it... The waitress went and spoke to the manager who said only if I pay again for it... I've worked in hospitality most of my life and I would never do that to a customer I'm sure you won't go broke over one dessert and the manager should have come out to deal with this I eat out at many local places and would never get this treatment will not be back
Probably the worst experience I've had in a public house A birthday drink with friends spoilt by someone who really must learn that the paying customer is king in this industry Accosted on entering and told that the birthday cake could not be eaten there as (I do deserts and you can buy them instead) Definitely not a place I will be returning to And as it's a managed house I will be complaining to the area manager Staff wonderful manager not so
Just to say I wouldn’t eat here ever again ! Food took ages to come out to tables some people had finished eating by the time others got there food and every table had cold food delivered And was sent back several times Deposits were not taken off the bill after ensuring we paid it ! Was told that my deposit would be returned to me in 7/10 days ? why not instantly ? Very poor avoid the restaurant at all cost
I had the opportunity to visit The Ship last week and was thoroughly impressed with the venue and service. They have a large canopy with four heaters, comfortable cushions, and blankets to keep you warm. The food was also delicious. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant served deep-fried, soggy potatoes, rock-hard carrots and broccoli with no mustard or mint sauce. The beef was chewy and the roast dinner overall was terrible; I left the restaurant feeling hungry.
