My wife and I, and two long-time friends had dinner here and it was quite a good experience, but as per many visits in the past there was a slight niggle that stops me from saying the meal was excellent. As usual we ordered through the app, and the drinks were soon brought to the table. I have visited this pub on several occasions, at different times and on different days. Generally, on my evening visits, it is usually a bit of a scrum to get into the pub and to the bar, as it is very popular with the locals and therefore on a par with most of the others I have visited around the country over the years. If you're going in for a few drinks, then generally good value for money and choice, but generally a little slow getting served as there aren't enough front of house staff, although this is again typical of most Wetherspoons. I just popped in for a pint on my way back from somewhere, one 'Spoons is much the same as another and the Doom Bar is almost always perfect but I just wanted to drop in a short 'review ' as two things wound me up regarding the service. Firstly, the young guy that served me (about 13:00? was one of the most miserable people I 've ever had serve me who wasn 't actively rude. He has a lot to learn about customer service; I really don 't want a false smile and an American style 'Have a nice day, now! ' but actually speaking to the customer might help. We've eaten a few times in the Willy Wig, it's what you expect from a Spoons. Went for the spicy meat feast pizza with extra chilies. the pizza looked great, see photo, but it was a bland as bland can be, all you could taste was the tomato base, i ate 4 of the chilis at once, nothing, if you're going to say it's spicy then make it spicy. Very disappointing.
