This little shop makes great hot bread and home-made Vietnamese take-away...the squishy shell rolls are my favourite...but the lady who runs it is Vietnamese and makes great Vietnamese dishes...hot and cold...we love the rice paper rolls with the home-made peanut sauce...she also makes these fabulous rolls with a hot Vietnamese pork filling...steamed BBQ pork buns and steamed dim sims are yum....and lately I saw a meat pie, but with a Vietnamese curry filling ...looked great and I will try it next time...ready made Asian salads are good too...my mouth is watering just talking about it

TIEN'S HOT BREAD may appear unassuming at first glance, located in the heart of Dee Why on the Northern Beaches. This long-standing bakery has maintained its traditional charm, offering simple weekend loaves and classic bakery treats without any fancy upgrades or trendy variations. However, what sets this bakery apart is its selection of Vietnamese and Cambodian inspired rolls. The soft rolls, finger buns, and other delights they offer are worth a try, making it a hidden gem in the area that should not be overlooked.
I would give the pork lemongrass salad with vermicelli a rating of 3.5 out of 5. Despite walking by this restaurant many times without noticing it, I was pleasantly surprised by the honey-glazed roast pork which was definitely the highlight of the dish. The portion was generous and the prices were reasonable. They also offer a variety of bread options. This restaurant is now on my list of go-to places to eat.
This little bakery in Oaks Avenue, Dee Why, has been there for many years and sells possibly the best Vietnamese Banh Mi rolls ($6.00) on the Northern Beaches, outside Saigon. There is also a selection of Cambodian rolls, rice paper rolls, steam dim sim as well as other delights. There is no seating available but it's a ten minute walk to Dee Why beachfront, but try walking there before taking a bite. Book a table now
Ratings are relative so when I say 5 stars for this awesome little Vietnamese bakery it's not going to give some hatted-city degustation restaurant a run for its money. But at $5 for an utterly delicious sweet and spicy Cambodian pork roll, served up by the smiling, chatty guys that work there, 5 mins up the road from the beach where you can sit and demolish it, it deserves every point.
Went for the pork roll, but the fresh hot dim sims were a real winner. $1.50 each with soy and home made chilli sauce. Wenty back for seconds. The pork roll was ok, not a lot of filling but the fact the chilli sauce and mayonnaise was home made, made it tasty. I was told to get one of the Cantonese rolls, as these are amazing, not the standard pork roll. Next time. Rolls are $6 each.
Part of the furniture of Dee Why, Tien's is an institution of the area.I drive out of my way for the soft shell rolls - eat them on their own or make any meal better with these wrapped around the outside. Always grab a bite when there - dim sims, banh mi rolls, or pork roll.Don't be fooled by the cover of this book, it may look plain but the food and rolls / bread is great.
First time heading down to Tiens Bakery for a Cambodian roll and I'll definitely be back!! Bread rolls are super soft and fresh and the selection of slow cooked meats look delish. I got the Cambodian Lemongrass Pork and it was amazing and the ladies working there are very sweet. My photos dont do it justice. Highly recommended! Book a table now
I had the honey pork Cambodian roll for lunch and it was only $5! The combination of flavors in the pate, the rich sweetness and saltiness of the pork, and the crispy baked bread were absolutely heavenly. I think it was the best $5 I've ever spent.
My Husband and I always come to Dee Why purely to get one of Tiens rolls. There are several slow cooked meats to choose from or amazing Vietnamese pork rolls! Great cheap lunch.
