A friend and I went to tilleys for lunch upon a recommendation of a chef I know. My first impression of this place was quite disappointing. After ordering and paying for our lunches, my friend was seated but I had to wait at the counter for my coffee to be made and I had to take it to my table. I found this quite rude and inconvenient. It took a long time for our food to be brought out to the table. The order was wrong, however the waitress brought the right order out not long after and she apologised. We both ordered fish and chips and when it was finally brought out The fish was bland, the batter was tasteless and greasy and it fell off the fish as soon as I cut into it. The chips were ove...

This is my local so any excuse to visit! I love the atmosphere, food, service and generally other clientele. Formerly a women's only venue, Tilley's has evolved over 30 years to be a safe and comfy haven for all comers from breakfast through to late at night. One of the rare places kids are welcome. The atmosphere is dark, glossy, welcoming and intimate in spite of the venue itself being relatively large - licensed to seat up to 270 inside and 200 outside. Seating includes booths, bench seating and retro cafe chairs - all painted black. Comfort is the order of the day. Coffees, cocktails, milkshakes or wine. My food favourites carrot cake sans cream and ice cream, vegetable curry, sweet pota...
Went here with a few mates for lunch. Actual venue is amazing. So many tables and it actually feels a bit like you've gone into a diner from many, many years ago.I ordered a main of salt and pepper squid ($20) this is what brought my review down as there were 7 pieces of thin squid on my plate sitting on a tiny salad. I was not impressed at all by this and would like to know how many pieces of squid an entree would get. I also got a glass of nz sav Blanc ($8.5) that was not filled up to the line. So needless to say, on those two accounts I felt a bit ripped off. I also split a large chips with a friend ($8) and the bowl was not filled up to the top so for $8 I would expect way more then what...
We went with friends who go there very often. From the moment we entered Tilly’s, everything about it was pleasant and the atmosphere was alive. A warm, welcoming feeling and the place was buzzing. People playing cards, some reading or on the laptop etc. and lots of eating and drinking, as you would expect. The menu is not huge, but we selected from the blackboard; 4 dishes, all good. The pulled duck was amazing, as was the pork belly. A good selection of wines, and a port to finish the meal. We enjoyed it so much, we went back on the Saturday night, and enjoyed the entertainment by the ‘resident’ band. Very good. Food equally as good and had all the dishes from the blackboard.Overall, the f... Book a table now
A friend and I called in here for lunch. I ordered gnocchi off the blackboard menu ($26) and a coffee ($4). When the dish arrived at our table we could not believe that such a small helping was on the plate. We expressed our disbelief to the attendant who shrugged and smiled. I counted the number of small gnocchi on the plate...22 actual pieces which means that each piece had cost over $1. This had to be the most expensive gnocchi i have ever had! I certainly would not be recommending this place to others.
Not a bad place to eat...unfortunately of the 3 mains that we ordered 2 were ok ..do yourself a favour and flick the pizza - thick base basic sauce small serve and overpriced ..disgusting...you can get better out of a box....other than that the booths were great. .service fine..and plenty of room.
Been coming here for over 30 years when ever in Canberra The food is good and well pricedThe coffee and cake is I dare say the best in Canberra The atmosphere is such that you can go with others or comfortably go alone I don't think it's like a pub , it is a very relaxed and special place
An icon in Canberra, it is comfortable, the music is gorgeous and in fact therapeutic, the decor elegant, has wonderful character, the staff professional and IMPECCABLE ALWAYS and food great quality and thoughtfully sourced. And you're welcome for long periods. Love it. Book a table now
A hand reliable local. Last night I was in a good mood. The salt and pepper squid, the quick service, sweet potato chips and white wine all good. But expensive.
A novel place to listen to music when available and have a meet up with friends. A busy and energising feel like a city pub with a twist of bohemian.

"I recently visited Canberra for the first time and tried Dosa Hut for the first time. I must say, we had the best curry and chicken fried rice here. The flavors were amazing and absolutely delicious."

"Comfortable, clean, attentive service. The portions can be inconsistent. I ordered the Avocado bruschetta, unfortunately it was drowning in a heavy balsamic thickened sauce which totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the avocado"
