Friendly welcome and shown to our table, before we’d even sat down we were asked what we wanted to drink! I prefer to be comfortably seated before I’m asked! Couldn’t be given a drinks menu because they were being updated, not my problem they still should have had one!! Wasn’t asked if we wanted starters or anything else, just told to get carvery! At the carvery , the “chef”was very nice and friendly. As always with carvery you get good choice of meat and help yourself to the vegetables. Everything was well cooked , so no complaints!
Today we used uber for carvery from this restaurant, what a mistake that was. The food was cold and lukewarm warm. It tuned up on a motorbike, the food wasn’t even in a thermal bag. The beef was fatty and inedible. The Gravy was like brown, tasteless water. The Roast potatoes were like hard boiled gobstoppers, soggy with no taste at all. And the extra side of loaded roast potatoes were just disgusting, it looked like dog food. Half of the meals went in the bin. Won’t be retuning to Toby Cleadon again.
Visited today and didn’t even eat my meal, food was so cold and watery. Table behind complained of same issue which we agreed with and the waitress tried to make excuses by the time people walk to the table it’s not hot, and apparently food was temperature checked, staff were rude. Went to the toilet and one of the staff implied food was not being paid for ? Very weird and very rude would never go here again after this experience

Terrible Sunday lunch mashed potato was lumpy had chunks of raw potato with black bits in could taste that it wasn't cooked. Turnip was also lumpy other veg had no taste the meat was the only thing that was just okay. £31 for two disgusting dinners and a small coke and a soda water a total waste of money so will certainly not be going back again.
The breakfast was absolutely freezing cold. We brought this to the attention of the staff, who temperature checked it and said it was fine. It wasn’t it, I’ve had hotter ice cream. No offer of a refund or discount. Toilets were absolutely scruffy, we would never visit here again! Steer clear.
The place looked shabby. The food was very mediocre the beef was very fatty and there was a poor choice of vegetables. Not good value for money. Atmosphere was more like a works canteen than a pub. The Brit used to be a great pub. Such a shame
Absolutely lovely food . Love the carvery, the roastys are the best and Carolyn our waitress was lovely in fact all the staff were very nice and welcoming

Great Carvery, service brilliant from Trish, Carl and Darren. Chefs Brian and Andy served so well the meat was spot on. Veg etc perfectly cooked.
The food was lovely and my little girl lived the chicken nuggets would definitely recommend this place and all staff were friendly
