The food here is fine, but the service is pathetic. Food took soo long to come out and the staff were running round and it was evident they were understaffed, but they were slamming drinks down on our table and were soo rude. Eventually when it took over an hour for entrees i paid the bill and left, i could have got quicker food if i made it myself. The worst part was that they didn't even care. What a joke.
We have enjoyed Tomomi in the past and so chose it for a quick mid-week dinner. We are not sure why, but on this occasion the restaurant's service fell in a heap. Everything was unbearably slow, plates were left on tables after customers had left and there seemed to be tension in the kitchen! Hopefully this is a transient problem as the food is great!
This is one of those reliable local good value restaurants. It is a friendly no frills Japanese restaurant that does the basics well. Generous sushi and sashimi; basic but good value wine list and a stellar ( and growing) Sake list. For a mid week healthy feed - a great choice.Oh - and it is BYO as well!
Sushi platter - gyoza - the usual suspects solid reliable nothing more nothing less. The fit-out could do with a bit more warmth to ease the coles cafeteria feel. Choose Ocha if your ambition - and wallet - is greater. Settle for this for a fair square meal. Book a table now
Great bento boxes. Good selection on the menu and great flavour. The tempura prawns had a light flavoursome batter. Good to have some genuine Japanese food compared to the usual Chinese knockoffs that you get splattered around Melbourne
We enjoyed a plate of Yakisoba w/chicken and the Dumpling (gyoza) plate. Compared to restaurants in the City, this was reasonably priced and you got good food, nice sized portions to share. We highly recommend.
The food was only average. My chicken teriyaki was burned and it was very hard to explain the server what my problem was. Her lack of Enliglish was a huge to have any converstions...
Small portions. Service out of sequence - entrees after mains. One of our party was served two courses before another was served their 'first' course. I am not going back. Book a table now
My go-to for all things sushi and handrolls. I'd by lunch from here at least once a week. Their lunch boxes are also yummy. Best handrolls in Kew.
