I read the reviews before going, and found the restaurant to be much as described. Upon entering, we found a table, and put our things down, since it was beginning to get busy. Then we walked over to the counter where the owner described each available dish presented to us under the glass hood. I chose the ravioli and vegetables, thinking that was it. But then he turned and proceeded to put spaghetti plus a salad on my plate! It was all very tasty, but was a lot of food, especially costing less than 25 euros for three of us (including non alcoholic drinks, and bread in a basket on the table)!
Giuseppe ist ein guter Anlaufpunkt für die Mittagspause - recht zentral in der Innenstadt gelegen und mit einem guten, wenn auch überschaubaren Angebot. Das Essen wählt man selbständig am Tresen, meist gibt es 6-7 Gerichte zur Auswahl, zu allen Mittagsgerichten gibt es Pasta und etwas Salat. Neben dem Tresen kann man noch ein Getränk wählen und es wird auch gleich bezahlt, wobei man mit etwa 5-8 Euro rechnen sollte. Einen Platz sucht man sich danach selbständig. Fazit: sehr schön für eine Mittagspause und recht preisgünstig dank Mittagskarte am Bedienbuffet.
Light and delicious Italian food, after spending a few hours wandering around the old market center of Weimar we were looking for somewhere uncomplicated to eat. Servings were mediumsized to large, the pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were excellent. I am not a cook...and cannot describe exactly what made this taste so good, but we ate at several Italian restaurants during our ten days in Germany and this was by far the best. Entrees were between and euros. Outstanding food and a beautiful town
La Trattoria da Giuseppe è un posto semplice ma dove si mangia bene, nel centro di Weimar. Non c'è un menu ma un tipo di "tavola calda", diciamo così, con le pietanze del giorno tra cui si possono scegliere 2-3 tipi di piatti (per esempio, gnocchi ripieni + funghi ripieni oppure tagliatelle al forno + pesce...) che saranno poi accompagnati da un'altro tipo di pasta e insalata. Tutto molto fresco. È aperto soltanto per pranzo, da lunedi a sabato.

Warum geht man zu Giuseppe? Man hat möglicherweise wenig Zeit und will trotzdem gut zu Mittag essen. Die Auswahl der Gerichte erfolgt direkt am Tresen, man schaut fast in die Töpfe. Das Angebot ist für eine Mittagsmahlzeit ausreichend, die Portion ausreichend groß. Langes Warten auf die Bedienung-Fehlanzeige. Teuer? Nicht hier! Und wer es exklusiv und raffiniert haben will muss eben zu Herrn Fabri in den Elefanten.
Enkel open voor lunch! Perfect wanneer je aan het wandelen bent: ligt op 100 meter van Herdersplatz. Zeer populair bij de bewoners, die Giuseppe. Je kan er eten voor 6 €. Wij namen er met paddenstoelen en ricotta gevulde tortellini, geserveerd met een pittig slaatje. Pintje bier, of glaasje wijn erbij, koffie na en met twee heb je genoeg gegeten voor nog geen 20 €! De tortellini waren heerlijk!
Diese Trattoria ist absolut empfehlenswert, weil die acht frischen Gerichte praktisch immer gleich fertig sind, gut schmecken und sehr preiswert (5,50 EUR) sind. Giuseppe stammt aus Kalabrien, hat immer einen lockeren Spruch dabei, und man kann bei ihm immer frisches Olivenöl aus seiner Heimat beziehen.
We were brought here by friends who live in Weimar they lunch here nearly every week. Every day a small selection of main dishes are cooked, select one, select your pasta and you have lunch. Coffee is also excellent
